Weekly Update - Swing and a Miss · 4:20pm Aug 2nd, 2014

Stories sometimes just sound better in your head than on paper. That said, my main goal this week is to take Something You'd Regret - Part 2 and fix quite a few of the flaws in it. There are a lot of things I can blame on why the part didn't work like I would have hoped, but I'm simply going to rest the blame on myself. I'm excited to get out the edited version to you guys as soon as possible this week. Then my next mission will be Man's Best Friend Part 3.

I'm going to be dishing up Office Love part 4 on Monday as well. What am I going to do when I have to actually make content for that story!?!?

Also! I recently crossed 300 followers! Instead of some sort of Sparta joke, I'm just going to say thank you to everyone who has recently followed me. When I first came to this website, I began by giving every follower a personal thank you comment on their page. Then I kinda got overwhelmed around 120 and I broke that tradition. So, thank you, everyone for helping me get this far. I can't wait to keep making more content for you guys.

Darn, I'm kinda bummed to hear Office Love isn't finished. I was hoping we'd get a chapter of that a week till it was over.

I've never really tried to balance multiple incomplete multipart stories before. How do you keep on top of it all?

lol dont give a thank you, theres just too many XD

always nice to see updates

How do I do it?

Well, there is a lot of crying myself to sleep for starters. A lot of disappointed fans as I update one story and not another while I do a rotation of stories until they are all done. God forbid that I write a one-shot, just to get my mind off the multiparts, and people beg for more. :raritycry: The typical stress of releasing a part and hoping people like it, while at the same time the ending you have in mind still feels real and natural. Unless I think of a new, better ending. :raritydespair: Then everything blows up.

So. I suppose I -don't- really handle it, but I do the best I can. I just want to make the readers happy at the end of the day. If they like the stories, that's good enough for me. That said, I'm trying to finish them all as soon as possible. Having so many incomplete stories is a massive mistake and nobody should ever do it. That's why I do it all the time.

Oh, I think taking a break to do oneshots is fine. Sometimes you need to relax and cut loose with a story that isn't encumbered by the same constraints as something longer that you're working on. Readers may complain, but unless they've written a few stories themselves they likely don't have a frame of reference to understand what it's like. I just imagine it must be a nightmare to keep track of the overarching plot and goals of multiple long stories that you have going on. It's a feat of multitasking that I know I'm not capable of, so it's always interesting to hear from someone who's decided to go that route. (I imagine you have a lot of notes laying around!)

It sounds like you definitely have the right attitude in mind, though, and judging by the response you're getting, you're definitely doing something right. There a lot of people looking forward to what you create, no matter what it may be.

I wish there was some trick to easing the pressure, though, but if there is I haven't found it. Comes with the territory of putting your work out there for the world to see, I suppose.
