For those curious as to what the hell that was all about in chapter 24.
It was a tribute to one of my favorite cartoons ever.

Who killed Who (1943) by the legendary Tex Avery.
Why do i say legendary, because, while they are not present in this particular short, Tex Avery is the original creator of SO MANY cartoon gags that are reused today. This includes a few used in Mlp! 
For instance, Someone being inside a large bell when it's struck, and shaking as they fall out. The multiple random doors gag when twilight and fluttershy are chasing celestia's pheonix (i never get the name right). Most notably: when Dash is running from Pinkie Pie and she is always inexplicably RIGHT THERE after she finds a new hiding place, this was used in lots of his cartoons (usually featuring droopy the dog, who he also originally created)
there are probably more too.
as for the next chapter i'm feeling inspired so who knows it may be out tonight ;) (don't quote me on that though)

I have heard of Tex Avery, but didn't know he made all of these gags commonly used in cartoons. It makes you wonder how he came up with this stuff(e.g where did he get the ideas from?). I find it fascinating.

There were times later on when the creators of Tom and Jerry and Loony toons (in the 50's) would call him up because they ran out of ideas for gags. He would walk in, slap one down, and walk out
he was truly a comical genius

lots of gags in the old tom and jerry were first used in Tex Avery.
in fact the "Wolf Pacifier" wrench gag was given to them by Tex. They said they needed a gag in this one scene, and he came up with that on the spot
