So... horse words · 6:32am Jul 16th, 2014

Apparently, I'm not interested in reading MLP fan fiction anymore. Go figure. I tried reading Urohringr. Awakening Pink. Even I Never Knew I Was There. I've browsed my Faves. Stories that used to thrill me at their update times no longer do.

I still enjoy pony. I watch it on occasion with my wife and/or daughter (though she's a voracious Bubble Guppies fan) and still think of fic prompts sometimes. However, my obsession has dwindled to something akin to a manageable ember.

I've largely moved on, but I'm still thinking pony in a smaller scale. I will be updating my stories again, starting with Spelunking until complete, and then moving to Dreamscape, then FoE: Of Taint and Colts, before finishing up Sweetie Bot X and maybe even Derpy and Applejacked, though the last pair are unlikely.

Even though I have a lot to catch up on, I'm no longer at a point where I will be pressuring myself with update schedules, speed-of-delivery writing, like/dislike ratios or any of that nonsense anymore. I have settled, and Iit's time I finish what I started.

... The pone burnout, it's a little sad, but it's agreeable nonetheless. Leaving a fandom comes in different forms, burnout, dramatic exit, rage quit, etc. And all are equally sad to see. I hope your stay has been worthwhile! I'll try to support your upcoming chapters as much as I can! :heart:s to you, my friend. :heart:s

[Apparently, I'm not interested in reading MLP fan fiction anymore.

I'd guess this is due to the story not being the new Alicorn OC story that I basically promised you I would never write and yet wrote anyway.

The pone burnout, I know that feeling. :ajsleepy:
But I am really glad I've got to meet you.
Also, Pokemon 4 life. :scootangel:

Nothing to do with that in the least, my good sirdam (since I don't know which, I'll assume one, the other, both, and neither all at once). The time off has been very good to me. I'm back into studying Java coding, learning how to push myself in RPG Maker, writing original material in the form of a series of TV scripts, and toying with Unity game dev tools all at once.

2291477
To be a master! HEY! Pokémon master!
I will be writin' a brand new chapter!

Sweet song.

2291643
Hey, I'm working on a Pokemon fan fic over on FanFiction.net, if you're interested - it's called 'Immigrant." Want a link?

2291668
Here you go. One chapter so far, but it's pretty cool, I think. I'm working on Chapter Two at the moment.

2291687
I like it.
Also, your wife chose well.

2291717
I'm glad you like her choice. She's been around horses for time immemorial, so I picked one of a few kinds that she would naturally have been around, the other being some kind of dog-based Pokemon (Growlithe, Houndour, Poochyena...) As for me, it was either a Misdreavus or a Ralts that I would've started with. I figured Misdreavus would be funnier because of my complete and total training inexperience with Ghost-types of any stripe. I use practically any other type effectively, but I've never used Ghosts that well!

It will get bad enough that eventually, Misdreavus will become Firefly's first Pokémon.

2291637
I know what you mean. Most of my FIMFiction interaction is performed at work.

2294295
I'm back into university, but I'm into summer now, and since my wife's disability pays for the bills and I'm needed on the farm, both with my 1.5-year-old and with my chores, I've got a bit of free time. I've been very fortunate to not need to work at the moment.

2299598
Well, that's the funny thing: When I'm not at work, I almost never even go to this site. I might check it on my phone on my walks to or from work, or I'll check once a day just to look at messages, but basically all of my writing, reading, and commenting takes place at work.

So, if I'm not working, I'm not doing much of anything on here. :moustache:

2299609
Hmm. I don't usually write at work. I tend to overspend my time when I write, so my breaks tend to lengthen beyond their alloted time. :derpyderp2:

2299687
My solution is easy, actually. I work on a computer basically all day, and I want to take my breaks on my computer, plus I have a decent amount of downtime in between checks I have to run most of the time (though I can't exactly plan for x amount of downtime, because I may get way too busy), so I never exactly take breaks... but my accumulated time not working on the computer adds up to, like, ten breaks a day. I probably spend more time not working, to be honest. I take my job very seriously, but most of the time, there's simply nothing that I have to do.

My job, however, is very important. I'm the weekend shifter (10-hour shifts Friday-Monday) for the day shift (7AM-5:30PM, because 30-minute lunch that I never take) at a 24/7 network operations center for the medical corporation Providence (mostly along the west coast of the US). If a system breaks, I'm the guy who has the power to call the engineer while he's in bed to tell him a network is down and patients aren't getting properly cared for.

Simply put, we need coverage on the weekends, and since I don't have a complicated social life, I have no problems working Saturdays and Sundays whatsoever. Most of the medical staff does stuff on weekdays, with only critical care staff and patients having important work done on the weekends, so the probability that things will break is a lot lower. Fridays and Mondays are usually pretty hectic for me, but Saturdays and Sundays are a significantly lower, yet no less important, workload... plus, being the new guy, I get paid the least for basically sitting around and waiting for things to break. :raritywink:

So, considering that I'm already at the place where I want to be in my free time, it wouldn't make any sense for me to leave my workstation. I'm constantly monitoring the systems from where I also screw around on FIMFiction, so why not just say I don't take breaks and mess around in my ample amounts of downtime? :scootangel:

2299719

Clever girl.

Anyway, I think I'm at pretty much the same stage as you, Zyth, though I doubt I'll ever end up leaving the fandom altogether. Writing's just starting to get fun again, and I'm still aiming to make my mark on the community before everything goes to the wolves.

Glad that you'll be putting the time into finishing your works, though! You're a damn funny guy, and it'd be a shame to let those stories sit there, forever incomplete.

2299719
Echoing 2299930's first statemet. That's clever.

2299930
Thanks, KS! Yeah, I've got other major things to focus on, like friends, family, and stuff I could be making money with. I don't need to spend another two years absorbed in a fandom. I think Sweetie Bot X will be the longest of all my fan fics, though the base documents I have for Dragon Ball Genetica fill sixteen twenty-odd-page stories...

I'm also tired of having one story complete while twelve others die. :rainbowlaugh:

2302550

Aye, I know the feeling, though it's more two completed stories, and 30 left on the back burner. I do hope to stick around in the fandom for a few years longer, since I've made quite a few close friends here.

Still, I wish you all the luck in the world with your stories, and I hope you don't ever burn out on an idea. Your writing's awesome, buddy! Keep on marching!

2302749
There are two things I appreciate about this fandom. It's the first fandom I've interacted with to this kind of scale, and as such is the first I've made fan fiction that has reached the level of exposure and critiquing it has. It's been very beneficial to the quality of my fics. Also, I've made some cool buddies here, and I value them and their input. That includes you.

2302994

I feel speshul c:. It's been a pleasure being friends with ya, Zyth, and 'What The Heck' continues to be a much-loved joy to this day.

2303267
Agreed. But I'm not gone yet. There is still some very purple prose to print! Onward, to the old printing press! Let us typeset our way to glory and fortunes!

(Disclaimer: "Glory and fortunes" may refer to articles which are real or imaginary. Zytharros is in no way responsible for glory and fortunes unaccrued in an expected or practically profitable manner... great, I just lost my Ferengi support contingent.)

2304250

Ah, a team of lawyers and a quick loophole in their Terms of Service will see that fixed.

2305734
As long it's not a Ferengi lawyer. They are completely unreliable and far too easily bribed. Now, a Vulcan lawyer? That's my thing.

2308334

But with their distinct attachment to logic, they might just end up dropping your case if it becomes too unrealistic!

2310909
Hmm. I might have better luck with DisQord as my lawyer...

2313926

I'd say the same. Good luck in the foreign courts!

2316085
No problem. Yet.
...Wait... DisQord just appointed YOU as my co-defendant!!

2317167

Oh shit, why!? Why would he pick me!? Oh God, now I have to go study law for five years!

Hold that court case, I'll be right back! I've gotta go sign up for university!

2318042
I can't. It happened yesterday at pepperoni o'clock. It waz raining schnitzel and Fluttershy tailfeathers. Funny thing, though... I don't remember anything elts about the casein.

2319240

How peculiar. Did you check under the couch for the tablet containing the case record on how to pick noses?

2321012
Twelve score and six million years ago, before Sonic was ape and highballs were lotto snorters. I couldn't find the f**k to give, though, so I had to Brannigan for a row butt.

2325996

But why Brannigan? He's got a track record for sniffing hair, and you can't trust those hair sniffers as far as you can shave them!

2327226
Why Brannigan? Because that [censored]...

We're sorry. We interrupt this speech stream to inform you that Zytharros just overloaded his censor button and profanities will be spilling out randomly throughout the rest of the evening.
