However, I have been psyching myself up to get back into writing the Assault.
One bit in particular is inspired by this song here:
The Lone Forty. Forty of the best warriors in the army. Earth Pony, Pegasus, Unicorn, doesn't matter. With the Fall of Celestine and the Republic army gutted, Star-Burst ordered for a consolidated defense around Canterlot. However, Talonhoof's horde of Mongrels and Griffons is highly mobile, so they need to slow them down as much as possible to buy time to both set up siege defenses, and train every able and unable mare, stallion and foal to fight tem off. So he asks for volunteers to agro the enemy at as many chock points as possible, and die doing it for as long as possible.
Hence the Lone Forty.
So far I got... Four.
Eisen Heart. Basically? The Viking at Stamford Bridge.
Soldier. Mother to a murdered daughter, wife to a murdered husband, and she will have her vengeance. With the Fall of Celestine, her whole family was wiped out in minutes. Giving up her identity, she will kill and kill and kill every Diamond Dog, Griffon, and whatever else the Horde has until she's dead, and then she'll kill some more.
Prisma Chromatic. The only one of the 40 whose body was never found.
Sugar: Pony!Simo Hayha. Pegasus stallion. Quiet, unassuming type, deadly with a crossbow.

Have you gotten the forty that you wanted? If not, I suggest posting another blog. Or maybe posting a forum discussion in the Writer's Group or the World Building Alliance.
How goes work with the Lone 40? Are you in need of any more suggestions?
