Talking a little bit about Broken Dreams, also – Thanks Everyone! · 8:02am Jun 28th, 2014
Broken Dreams was my first attempt at writing. What you see today was the result of at least three different scrapped projects that eventually grew into what was published. Even though this is a fictional story, I tried to base it off of my own life experiences. Mainly the series of recurring dreams that began shortly after being fired from my dream job. Originally I was going to use an OC, but I felt Lightning Dust was the best canon pony for the story.
I've learned a lot sense I started this, and one thing I really like are longer chapters. I like chapters that are between 4 to 5k in length. It's a nice balance between giving the reader information and a place for them to pause for a break. Given how short the old chapters were; would it be weird for new chapters to be that long? Or for me to go back and make the old chapters longer?
Also in another announcement:
I hit 100 follows yesterday so thank you! All of you!
(If your getting this and not a follower, thank you very much for favoriting my story )
Your welcome!~
You earned every follow great job man.
Don't stress over chapter length. Chapters should be exactly as long as they need to be. No more, no less. I have seen professionally published novels where one chapter is 30 pages long, then the next chapter is one page, then the next chapter is ten pages. Chapter length should not be thought of as a rule, rigid and inflexible. When the chapter feels finished to you, the chapter is finished.
Oh, and congrats on 100 followers!
Congrats!! And don't worry about the chapters. Make them however long they need to be.
