Four new chapters of Rampant are now up, except they're not quite new. I did a rewrite, goddammit. Despite how much it seems I worked to make the story not move forward, it has definitely moved forward, for real. I didn't just pretty up the grammar and scene detail, I restructured everything that's happened in Ponyville. Every scene has changed for the greater good.
I previously failed to write the story I really wanted to, and now I have done personal justice to it. It's funnier, the drama is tighter, and the action is better. Now, although the scenes are different and there are more characters running around, the Ponyville arc still follows the same path as before; I haven't changed the direction of where the story was going. It's still headed the same direction, just in a better way. The only major change in plot is that I got rid of that bit about Rainbow missing a wing--that was leading up to something that, now, something else will lead up to.
My goal is a chapter a month from now on, just so you know. I probably won't reach it often, but my groove is constantly improving. Two more chapters will finish up the Ponyville arc in proper, climactic fashion, and then I'll finally get to that part I was always planning with the diamond dogs.
Tell you what, if you don't want to read through what is essentially the same stuff you've already read, I'll send an abridged recap to you. Just ask. Thanks for reading anyway, because I really do appreciate people putting up with me.

No offense, I just generally dislike reading rewrites unless they actually change the story's direction — but those are the sorts of rewrites that make me stop and consider finding something else to read, lol.
Rampant is one of those stories that I think about unbidden every now and then. It's just such an interesting concept, I won't be quitting reading any time soon. I'm glad to hear Rainbow got her other wing back. A flightless Rainbow is just a sad thing. Is the weird part with the 4th-wall breaking Exposition Gods getting nixed?

2238595 No worries, dude, that's why I offered. While I didn't change the direction of the story, I did change the tone--or fixed it, if I may say so. It now fits my original vision, where although shit is still fucked and everybody is potentially murderous, there's nothing wrong with showing the lighter side to things as well. Lots of joking around, very little of the previous melodrama.
Straight-up, yes, the gods of exposition are gone. They now have a role only in the back of my mind, rather than in the story. I just figured out I can un-publish that chapter while I work on its replacement, so consider it gone forever. Unless someone really want to give it another read. Give me a minute and I'll message you the recap.
