My H&K crossover story got featured yesterday, and I was on Cloud Nine, for about 30 minutes. Then it got unfeatured. I have an email out to the staff asking for an explanation, but I think it was one admin who thought it was a good idea followed up by one or more other admins who crushed my hopes and dreams. So I guess it is inappropriate to feature goofball comedies about potheads who visit Equestria, experience culture shock and find common ground with the adorable but powerful population, but it is OK to feature stories with hyperphallia, vore, mass murder and genocidal warfare.
Still, I suppose that stories with hyperphallia aren't potentially going to encourage kids to go out and buy penis pumps...
I mean, I don't mind my stories not being featured (though I wish I could find a wider audience; the ego requires constant stroking after all) but it is a different story to be featured and then have the rug pulled out from under you. It's sort of a Carrie moment.
Still, I suppose I did pick up 6 more favorites in that brief time, so for that much at least, I am thankful. But I'd really like to know if the issue is one of disagreement between admins over the appropriateness of the content versus one over the quality of the work. Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate the work the admins do to keep this site running and if there is some organizational dissonance, that's perfectly normal. It just kind of hurt, that's all.

unfortunately, it's not the mods that choose what gets featured. It's site activity.
to get featured, your story has to get a certain amount of "heat" in a certain span of time. "heat" is received through views, likes, favs etc.
that's why a lot of clopfics get featured on there. Because a lot of people will look at it, favourite it, like it etc. all in a very short span of time, which eventually leads to getting the fic featured. It's also why the more popular authors often get their fics featured on a regular basis. Because they have the followers to give them the heat.

2222058 Yup. I've known some guys who were very bright and accomplished absolutely nothing with their lives. But I also know people who smoked and were very creative and able to do very well. So it effects different people differently. It also has to do with how much and how often you smoke.
2222058 And I would never EVER suggest that anyone under the age of 18 smoke anything. In fact that's going to be in a future chapter. The H&K movies always had a strange sort of morality embedded in them, and I want to try to stay true to the tenor of the franchise.
It got featured again after the latest update. For another 30 minutes, but it picked up 2 more likes at least... I must have shitty timing on my updates.
