    2018 Resolution

A few hours early, but I figured I would write this while I have some free time instead of squeezing it in when I don't.

    Holiday Story Dec 2016

2 years ago today, I wrote a story called Cold Outside. It didn't get much reception, but I still read it sometimes for the feels. I was looking at it again, seeing as the holidays were coming up, and I wanted to write a follow up part. Last year I wrote some human holiday thing that didn't end up very well. I wanted to delete that story because it didn't feel like a story. I hadn't, mostly

This is going to be me talking a bit on the overall story of Contracted. I'll cover how I thought of it, some things that happened while writing it, and what I personally think of it.
**SPOILERS**
Firstly, I thought of the story when I asked myself a question one day after reading some story I can't remember off the top of my head. I was wondering what if there was a dark side of Equestria that isn't shown in the show? I wondered that if it existed, how would it fit in to the canon. This created the idea of killers and mercenaries. When I wanted to create some kind of storyline for it, I thought of a pony that didn't want to be like the others. Sort of like the outcasts among outcasts. I didn't really develop his character, mostly just a background, and even then it wasn't completely described yet.
Next, I have to say that I never intended for the story to get more than a few views in the first day or two. After seeing a larger increase than normal, I decided to make it clear that it wasn't going to be some story where a pony kills the mane six. I wouldn't have had fun with that, and that was all that mattered. After that, i saw a good amount of people continue reading, that wasn't above what I expected. Next, I have to say that I spent a good amount of time on each chapter because of that reason. I read each chapter on average about five times. Most of the times it was because of the fact my editor went to Equestria halfway through. I like to think he met Fluttershy and is now trapped in her dungeon, but that would be too good for him. Near the ending, I decided to lengthen the story for a specific reason I can't explain right now. The second half will involve more action, as well as a slight... twist. Keep your eyes out for it.
Finally, I think that Contracted was a good enough story to read, but I'm still surprised at the amount of views it got. In about ten chapters, it already rivaled the views of my first story, which had been going on forever by then. Marx's character wasn't even very detailed to me, and I wrote the dang thing. I was in the middle of trying out some character ideas in my main story while I wrote this. I really wished I focused more on the characters instead of the story. Still, I'm proud of how it turned out, to an extent. I wanted to kill off the main character( I almost did in like chapter 7, but restrained myself twice). Luckily, Marx lives to fight another day, and meet another reaper ;D. Shhhh.
