    New YouTube Channel

I technically already had a YouTube channel, but I made a new one to put my personal creations into it. The videos on the old channel will start disappearing in favor of putting them on the personal channel instead. I used a new pen name for it, "Bernard Butler", which is a Megamind reference combined with obscure DC comics from the 1940s.

    9/11

The day that changed everything. I’m not forgetting it any time soon. Nearly 3000 people tragically died that day, & because it happened at home & caused such destruction, it made so many Americans feel far less safe. Many feared being in urban environments & around major landmarks out of fear of copycat terrorism, & there was an anthrax scare too - Americans were afraid Al Qaeda was planting

    Need for Voice Actresses

I'm going to eventually move on from MLP fanfiction for a while, if not forever. My plan was to become to Discord what MemJ or whatever she's called became to Princess Celestia. But I'm choosing a new life, so I'm going to, instead of making this the grand opening to a new fanfiction career, make this the temporary or permanent swan song to MLP fanfiction.

Satirical Sunday...Except that it's Tuesday · 6:07pm Jun 10th, 2014

In light of recent events:

I decided to release a post that addresses this sort of issue, being the tendency to claim to have a serious problem to gain follows or cash....

Help! I've got Retro-Viral Hyperplasia! It's lethal, and I've only got a year to live. My dad had it, and I inherited it from him!! You can trust me! It's the internet, so would I lie to you?

But there's hope; there's a cure. Genetically modified spider-venom. It could cure me by giving me an arachnid's ability to self-heal! But I need confidence. After all, it's in tight security guarded by laser detectors and automated machine guns, and the only guy who can help me is an electrical psycho, so you have to admit that it would take some confidence to steal creatively obtain. If you provide me follows on FIMFiction, friend me on Facebook, donate $200, follow me on Google+, and favorite all my stories and upvote them, I will surely gain the confidence to take this spider-venom and cure me! I'm sure nothing bad will happen...

....Well, nothing TOO bad anyway.... (Did I mention I need follows?)

And that is part of the reason why you should question things if someone over the internet claims to have a problem and asks you for fame or money.

I visited doctor recently, and he told me that I have a severe case of immortality. :fluttercry:

That means I'll never ever die! I'm cursed to write stories for all eternity! :raritycry:

Oh, wait, that's a good thing. :twilightblush:

2195955 Well, since I'm immortal, I can do all sorts of things!

Like basejuuuu......

*splash*

He might not have cancer but we all know he has Full-of-crap Disease... :rainbowlaugh:

True... true. :moustache:

I'm glad he's not dead, trust me; I'm just sick of the fake sob-stories and the lying to manipulate.

2196033

Am I the only one who's glad that he might not have died of cancer?

No, but a lot of people are also upset with him for lying so brazenly about something that HAS taken their family or friends, just for attention.

It's rarely that simple.

2196353
I can't take you seriously anymore.

Take it easy SBA; John's probably just reminding us that some of us really do have cancer, so we shouldn't judge all internet claims as false. Now I actually don't wholly disagree with that, I just think we should be a little skeptical and not get too deeply involved in it. I still agree with you that lying about cancer is in very bad taste, because it's a real bane and only recently do people who have it have fighting chances of surviving it, but not everyone who says they're suffering from cancer is a liar.

I think John's also trying to remind us that when we start talking about how bad others are often, we begin to feel that because they are so un-righteous, that it somehow makes us comepletely righteous, which of course is not so. The only difference is that he broke rules we all knew not to break.

'm not going to deny I got a little too deeply involved with TgtfProductions, which is why I'm so indignant. He was my friend, I gave him my trust, and he was lying through his teeth to feed from the attention and fame me and several others helped provide him. He used us. I guess this satire is just both my means of coping with the betrayal and a sign that this guy didn't just f*** up like everyone else does, but f***ed up where no one else would dare to go.

One of the reasons that I left the Catholic Church is because it put me into the mindset of attempting to categorize degrees of sinfulness, after which I would see whether or not I was in a position to condescend the sinners in question and add to the drama. I, too, have witnessed cancer claim loved ones, but when people do douchey or hurtful things, it should never, ever take me by surprise, because Jesus himself said that only one is good: God. No matter how great or small, sins are still sins, and all make us less like Jesus. This is the beautiful simplicity of the Gospel.
If people want to be angry at Jared, then let them be angry. After applying the Gospel, however, I simply see such indignation as futile.

You might be right. Even though I told a funny joke, the indignation at the betrayal achieves nothing. Because it was still funny, I'm not taking it down, but because indignation gets nothing done, I'm not repeating this with indignation in my heart.

I don't see much sinful about this blog post, I do however see how it doesn't get much done, save gain a few cheap laughs.

2196657
No harm done; we all have a right to have opinions and explain them!

2196657
No harm done; besides, we all have a right to have opinions and explain them!

2196567
Completely missing the point. Also, it's getting ridiculous how often I see you showing up places and pretending you can be one to "mediate," then putting words in other people's mouths in a zeal to defend/white knight for them. Edit: Especially when you weren't asked.

2196736
Lemme respond to the new version, even though I still think you're probably religitrolling: there's no sin in being upset that one was lied to and manipulated. You and Grant are assuming things that are not true when there is any talk about self-righteousness in such upsetness. You are essentially doing this:

TgTfP: "LOL TROLLED NOT ACTUALLY DED/CANCER"
Community: "WTF you manipulated and used our feelings, pretty much everyone has lost someone to cancer and that hurts"
Grant: "SATIRE! LOL!"
SBA: "Yeah this is upsetting and hurtful."
John: "It's sinful to react to this! Besides you should expect it because humans are shit."

Who's being self-righteous here? You are.

2196841
This is correct and reasonable if, and only if, one accepts Calvinist and/or Lutheran beliefs.

I do not. The various Catholics, non-denominationals, and many Protestants of the site do not accept these beliefs, and the agnostics and atheists certainly don't at all. It is futile to preach from the premise of beliefs that others do not hold, so why do you do it?

All you can achieve by this is receiving approval for the righteousness/holiness/whatever of your actions from those who already agree with you. In other words, you seem to be doing this to promote your own righteousness, because you might as well be standing on a street corner with a "God hates fags" sign in one hand and a "Thank God for dead soldiers" sign in the other, for all the opinions you're going to change.

The religious discussion is being continued in private, by request.

Nothing to see here.

2196808
I'm grateful that you're defending this blog post; I'm just considered for a moment there that maybe I did the wrong thing after all. In retrospect, I can see that I didn't do anything wrong posting this. And John was just reminding me that just because someone really screwed up, doesn't mean I should get too big for my britches. Take it easy.

This post…is a prime example of what to do if you want everyone to hate you.

WORKED OUT WELL FOR YOU, DIDN'T IT TGTFP? :trollestia:

2196566 You know, when you come into a discussion, tell people that they shouldn't be so judgmental, tell them that they've made bad decisions as well, and then proceed to lecture them on the "thumbs down" button, you really live up to your username. I realise that's a rather brash statement to enter with, but the entire time you've been here, you've been trying to tell people that they shouldn't treat people with condescension, but then you decided it would be a good idea to tell people they're using FiMFiction's features incorrectly, which kind of undermines your point. Furthermore, you've made no mention of the downvotes somebadauthor has received for her comments. If you're going to be condescending, drop the double standard. Be consistent, and practice what you preach. The way you've conducted yourself so far makes you come off as a self-serving narcissist.

Unless of course you're trolling, and that was your intent all along, in which case all I can really say is "well plaid." :derpytongue2:

To address the actual lecture, though, this is the internet. If you honestly expect people to have a "thumbs down" option at their disposal and not use it to express silent disapproval, then you're rather naive. I'm going to break my record of defending Knighty's more controversial decision, and acknowledge that the idea of using comment ratings to weed out spam and troll comments was a flawed system from its inception. There are simply too many posters on the site for that to have ever been viable. If the administrators were really irritated by this use of the ratings system, they'd remove it altogether. Calling people out on using it in that manner is little more than shaming them for disagreeing with you; stop it.

2196353 Nothing positive comes of forgiving individuals for actions they do not regret. You may feel some sense of moral worth, but if the offender does not feel that their actions were wrong they will not see any need to amend their behavior. This is doubly true if the offender intends further harm. In this case, we have an individual who faked the claim of their death by cancer with the intent of gaining followers and views. When it was revealed that the user had been lying, the people he had manipulated were infuriated, and rightfully so. Had he acknowledged the error of his actions and accepted his punishment, I might be able to forgive him. This is not, however, what has happened. Instead, infuriated that his petty, devious scheme backfired on him, he has threatened the site as a whole with a denial of service attack. An individual like this is not deserving of your sympathy.

I'd also like to add that somebadauthor is right in that it is foolish of you to expect individuals to behave in accordance with your religious/philosophical values if they do not share them, and if you're here to convert people, then you're going to have a bad time.

2196567 This might have been a valid argument if John's post had actually said any of what you just suggested it had. It did not, rather, it was about refraining from criticising people on religious grounds. Never once in that comment did he reference the existence or non-existence of legitimate claims of death on the internet. Your arguments don't hold up.

2197660
Yeah, I now know what he meant; he was just saying that people writing Jared death threats was wrong, if you look at his first post, and judging from him putting it there, I guess he mistakenly assumed I was one of the death-threat writers. Then he added that he didn't liked to be criticized on religious grounds later. You have to admit that this threw me off a bit though:

I, too, have witnessed cancer claim loved ones

2198375 You'll have to forgive the extreme delay in response, I've been trying to find employment recently. I've been rather distracted from many online activities. In any case, John and I have already discussed this in private, turns out I did my usual thing of admonishing perceived pejorative/condescending attitudes resulting from simple misunderstanding. :applejackunsure: I need to work on that. In any case, forgive me for making a scene in the comments of your blog. I'm off to take advantage of my free time.
