First post in 2024 -- Technical Difficulties

Hey, guys! I know its been a while since I made a blogpost, but I've been preoccupied with writing out commissions to keep up with bills. I also recently moved to a new place (dont worry, this one was planned better than the cross-country move back in 2022), and I've been settling nicely. I've been fortunate enough to work on a new series of my own accord titled 'To Nerd A Bird,' but at the

It's my Birthday! (Also, Patreon Updates)

Hey, y'all! As of today, I'm now a whopping thirty-three years old! I know that isn't really a big deal, but it's a good enough excuse to swing by here and explain where I've been.

    Commissions Still Open

Heya guys! I finally finished a good amount of my backlog, so I'm open for commissions at the moment. My rates will be around $20 per thousand words, although it may vary depending on content or number of characters involved. I don't know how many projects I'll be open to accept, but I'll likely delete this blogpost when I have enough to handle. Until then, please feel free to contact me though

Well, it's been 24 hours, so here are my answers to the questions given to me.

Favorite color?

Purple, black, and aqua

Favorite snack?

Tacos!

Favorite drink (alcoholic)?

Anything with vodka. Preferrably, either White Russians (with chocolate syrup) or Fuzzy Navels

Favorite drink (non-alcoholic)?

Coca Cola

Favorite song?

Across the Universe. It's a great song, regardless of which artist performs it. (It's also one of the best musicals I've ever seen)

Favorite TV show?

I got a lot of shows I love: The Simpsons, Mystery Science Theater 3000, Code Geass, Breaking Bad, Archer... Oh, there's too many!

Why did you start watching FiM?

I saw a bunch of memes for it on Memebase, and I decided to give it a shot. I'm still unsure whether or not that was a good decision.

What got you into the fandom?

Mostly, the art and music (as well as the memes). I love the immense amounts of creativity this show managed to inspire, and I'm happy that I'm able to do something to contribute to that with my writing.

What got you to start writing fanfiction?

I've been wanting to write a romance story for a long time, and this fandom helped me think of a good medium to actually make a full fledged story that would work.

What was your inspiration for writing Brushed Away?

Back in high school, I was deep in the closet, and terrified about coming out due to the backlash I was afraid of getting (I live in the Ozarks, so that should give you an idea of why I was worried). For a while, I kept on worrying about that sort of thing, and I guess my imagination got the best of me. Luckily, that went away by the time college began, and I was able to come out to friends and live more easily. However, I still thought a lot about other things (romance, family reactions, etc.), which I think all evolved over time into a massive cluster I had in my head. And by the time I got into FiM, I started thinking of a story about someone dealing with those things in this world. After a long time of thinking about it, I decided to actually put my thoughts on paper, and Brushed Away was born.

Have you written any original fiction, or do you plan to?

I haven't, but I wouldn't mind trying sometime in the future. I just need to think of a good story.

Do you have a third story planned in the Brushed Away universe?

I have a couple ideas regarding a third story; however, I'm currently unsure whether or not to go through with them. Mostly, I know that if I go through with my main idea, that everyone will be begging for more stories to go with it, and I don't want to go too far ahead of the FiM timeline to do that.

Do you plan on doing more standalone shipfics?

Yes. Currently, I have two different shipfic ideas going through my head: One is a Soarin X Fancy Pants story, and the other is a crack-ship between Gilda and Twilight's Mom (I swear I have a story for that one).

Who is best pony?

That would be a tie between Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle. Although, both Applejack and Rarity are really becoming favorable to me since the 4th season.

Who is worst pony?

At first glance, I want to day Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon due to how nasty they are; however, I think they're supposed to be written that way, so to say they're bad would just indicate how effective they are as bully characters.

Honestly, I dislike Princess Celestia, mostly due to how she never apologized to Twilight for leaving her at the wedding! Seriously, she ditched her best student (leaving her to make the saddest face I EVER saw in a cartoon!), which caused her to be thrown in a dungeon, and ended up being put in a friggin' cocoon and almost lost her Kingdom! And what did she say to Twilight after it was all over?

"You still have a wedding to plan."

Seriously, she could've had said sorry at least once, instead of just giving some bullcrap about "You learned how to face doubt." Yeah, YOUR doubt!

Of course, she also made Twilight a Princess, so I guess that makes up for it.

What is your favorite story on this site?

I have a few stories that I love, which include Melting Snow, Post Nuptials, Families, The Tangled Roots Trilogy, Dear Sweetie Belle, and Aaaarientation!

Have you ever came across a story that really rustled your jimmies? If so, which one and why?

Honestly, Faith and Doubt pissed me off, mostly since it started off so good! It gave a great alternate version on the Royal Wedding, making Twilight take action herself and act totally badass against Chrysalis! I wanted it to keep going in that direction, showing Twilight act more independantly and show the dramatic fallout between her, and her friends and Celestia. But then... it brought out the alicorn OC and turned Twilight to a dark alicorn herself. That's when I left the story, and I just wish the author didn't go in that stupid direction. He had a great idea going at first, and then he had to mess with it!

Oh well, at least Post Nuptials did a better job with the story concept

Can you triforce?

I need to get a 4Chan Gold Account to do that, don't I?

I accidentally all the things, can you help?

Only if you can triforce for me.

If you could re-write an episode of FiM, which one and what would you change?

A Canterlot Wedding. Mostly, I would have Celestia show a LITTLE more guilt about leaving Twilight, and maybe acknowledge that she screwed up herself by letting Chrysalis get so close to her. I'm not asking for a lot, but I would've had her say sorry to Twilight at least ONCE! That's it.

Do you have a canon OTP? If so, what is it and why?

Wait, when you say Canon, do you mean already established in the show? Because if so, my favorite would Mr. and Mrs. Cake. They're just so adorable together!

In regards to Fanon shipping, I gotta love Rarity X Zecora! Seriously, we need more stories of them!

Is there a ship you can't stand? If so, what is it and why?

Honestly, I can't stand any shipping that's been overdone a gazillion times. Seriously, I like the idea of Applejack and Rainbow Dash, but how many stories are there of those two?! Same with things like TwiLuna, Twiilee, Twidash, etc. Basically, any overused ship involving Twilight and/or Rainbow Dash is hard for me to appreciate.

Did I ask enough questions?

You sure did!

Coffee or Tea?

Tea. I don't like coffee.

What made you start writing gay romance? (seriously you nail it compared to every other writer here.)

Well, since I'm gay myself, I guess I just wanted to write what I wanted for myself. I had an idea, and I went with it.

The creation behind Canvas and Troy.

Honestly, I think both Canvas and Troy are reflections of my own worries regarding coming out. Canvas helped to express my fears about coming out, and also show the hope I had about moving foward with my dreams. Whereas, Troy was a good expression of my first bouts of confusion regarding coming to terms with myself, and the realization of what it means to achieve real happiness.

Cassette players in Equestria, best portable media in Equestria or dying format? (My upcoming fic will feature them.)

Since the most advanced technology we saw in the show were record players and film reels, I like to think that cassettes and cassette players are more cutting-edge tech in this world.

How do you easily mention last weeks episode in a new chapter while fitting it into the story?

In regards to my story, I still have a couple scenes planned which involve the library; however, I plan to make a transition to the castle later in the story. While it sucks that the library was destroyed, I think it will make a good plot point later on.

Do you plan to write anymore romance after Brushed Away II? Maybe other LGBT themes?

I very well might. I already listed the shipping ideas I have planned, so there might be more in regards to those. And yes, there will be more gay stuff.

I mean, heterosexual romance?

Well, that's everything! Thanks for your questions, and stay tuned for more writing in the future!

Like I said, I don't mind Easily Forgiven if it happened like the Avatar link I gave you.

One is a Soarin X Fancy Pants story, and the other is a crack-ship between Gilda and Twilight's Mom (I swear I have a story for that one).

I was wondering if you were going to do that SoarinPants (LOL) story. That's gun be gud! :moustache: Gilda x Twilight Velvet? :twilightoops: Uhh... we'll see, I suppose!

Honestly, I dislike Princess Celestia, mostly due to how she never apologized to Twilight for leaving her at the wedding! "You still have a wedding to plan."

You know, I never realized that. You're right! What a bitch! :twilightangry2:

I have a few stories that I love, which include Melting Snow, Post Nuptials, Families, The Tangled Roots Trilogy, Dear Sweetie Belle, and Aaaarientation!

I've been meaning to read Darth Link's stuff for a while. It looks so damn good. And n'aww, you flatter me. Stahp. :twilightblush:

Faith and Doubt would have pissed me off too.

Great AMA! Though, I gotta disagree with you on the heterosexual romance. All pony love is good pony love. :pinkiecrazy:

Plus I clop to nearly everything

Glad to see you're starting to get the followers you deserve. :scootangel:
