    Soon!

I think I've used that blog title three or four times now.

Anyway! New chapter of Spectacular Seven is almost done! I was hoping it would be done this week so I could post it on Saturday, but I need to rewrite a scene. And that's before I edit it! And before Drakey edits it! The good news is...

    Ten Years, Still Here

I think back to my nascent days here, reading stories and typing out my own, hoping for the day where I could call myself a veteran of the fandom. My stories would be remembered and I would stand alongside authors like Pen stroke and Aragon.

And I look where I am now and go, ‘well, you got one big hit. Good enough.’

Season Finale Follow-up/review thingy: Twilight's Kingdom part II · 8:51am May 17th, 2014

Last time on MLP:

Twilight feels inadequate about her role as a princess and sings a pretty awesome song. Meanwhile, a shadowy threat emerges from the... shadows, and begins to steal the magic of the denizens of Equestria. His name: Lord Tirek. Desperate to stop him, Princess Celestia sends Discord to apprehend the dark overlord. While they have a confrontation of chaotic conventions, Twilight and her friends discover the secret behind the mysterious box and the keys that open it. Before they have time to ponder where the final key is, Twilight is called back to Canterlot and discovers horrible news: Discord has betrayed them! With no option left, Celestia votes to rid themselves of their alicorn magic.

What will become of Equestria? Will Tirek succeed in his evil plan? How will Twilight obtain her key? Everything will be answered... now!

Whoops, wrong opening!

Well... kinda beats the normal one.

Celestia's trying to show off one last time.

Such a beautiful day in Equestria. Meanwhile, everyone is getting the magic sucked out of them! So lovely.

or, Yes, DHX Totally Just Made That S*yaay* Happen

We start with context! Good, because I was worried for a second there. Tire's stealing magic? Then let's just throw all of it away so he has nothing to steal! ... Actually, that would be a good desperate plan B. Or it would be if he wasn't already buffed up. Anyway, apparently he doesn't know about Twilight being a princess so they're just gonna give the magic to her.

Let me stop you right there.

So, Sunset here new about the coronation, and that Twilight would be sleeping in the Crystal Palace with her crown when the thirty moons were up, while she was in another dimension, but Tirek's been walking around for practically two years and the info never gets to him?

What can I say? When you got it, you got it. People may call me a bad villain but at least I stay up to date. Clearly, Tirek could use some lessons in information gathering.

Spirit bomb! wait, no, not yet.

Pure magic. Not from concentrate.

Avatar state! Or, Super Sayian!

I think this is what many of us were expecting when Twilight first became a princess. I really like the celestial mane and tail. Too bad it isn't permanent.

Enjoy. It's the last time you'll see it alive!

Wait, didn't Celestia say something like, 'go away to somewhere safe'? If she's suppose to be hiding from Tirek, Ponyville seems like a bad place to choose. Kinda putting everyone in the line of fire if Tirek finds out. But what am I saying? There's no way he'll find out about Twilight, right?

Murphy's Law in Five...

Look at that focus. Look at that static.

Feel adequate now, Twilight? You get to lower the moon and raise the sun. Next time, be careful what you wish for.

Four...

Knock knock, b*yaay*s

Darn, that was such a nice door. Tirek knows how to make an entrance.

Three...

WHERE'S THE TRIGGER!?

That one speaks for itself. It was just too easy! I regret nothing!

Two...

One.

Oops.

Great plan, Celestia. Top notch really. Might have worked if you had, you know, smashed one stained glass!

Would a 'your princess is in another castle' joke be applicable here?

Stop making pop culture references I don't get.

Twilight Sparkle really sparkles!

Ugh, I think I just gave Hasbro their next marketing slogan. Meanwhile, while Twilight goes off to tame her powers...

Traitor...

Spike and the girls are left to face with the re-unreformed Discord and the King of Evil. Now, brace yourselves. You may experience a severe case of the feels, and sadly, they aren't the warm kind.

Damn, Even I felt a little something here.

Poor Fluttershy. She trusted Discord the most. Okay, let's face it, she was the only one to trust Discord. And he goes and stabs her in the back. And again in the heart. While seeing Fluttershy suffer in small degrees usually gives me a good laugh, this one actually just made me sad.

Fortunately, there's this little thing called Karma.

Backstabbing all around!

He had comin' He had comin' He only had himself to blame~

Really, there were two ways this was going to turn out. One: Discord was faking the whole time and was just plotting something to spring on Tirek at the last second. Or: this.

And we all knew which one was more likely to happen.

Freaking Applejack kicking salt in the wound.

Discord totally deserved that comment. Way to go A.J. This is why you're second-best pony.

"You're big. I've fought bigger."
"Really?"
"No, I was just... I was just trying to... you know... I wanted to sound... I'm gonna run now."

And here. We. Go.

Bay-splosions!

Let's start the fight off by escaping from gigantic balls of flaming death! Glad they remembered Owloisious, 'cause that would have sucked if we had to wait till next season to find out if he lived because the animators forgot to factor him in.

Fuck this shit, I'm outta here.

Wait, why didn't you censor this one?

'Cause it was too hilarious in my head to censor. It's my blog, I do what I want! Speaking of which, this is probably the part where you expect me to have a moment of silence for the Golden Oaks Library. Well, too freaking bad. Go mourn somewhere else. That meme is already done to death for me. Yes, the library exploded, boo hoo, cry, cry. I'm over it. Let's move on. I'll feel sad next season.

Wow, dude. That was heartless.

I know. Feels good, too!

Holy s*yaay* Part II!

Twilight is pissed! See, she can feel the pain of losing the library for me. I'm living vicariously through her! Time to kick some major demonic butt! Again!

That last part was uncalled for. But I digress, Kick some ass, Twilight!

Screw the Orbital Friendship Cannon. Just Sparkle Laser him to death.

Retaliation!

Not today, bitch!

Epic piggyback ride!

No, seriously, this is what I what I was thinking when I saw this. Also, best face.

Now it's spirit bomb time!

Sonic Sparkleboom.

Epic.

Well, I had my fun. That was the coolest thing to come out of Friendship is Magic sense ever. Was it DBZ inspired? Probably. Was it over the top? Perhaps. Was it freakin' awesome? Damn right it was! I think what makes it awesome is not just the epic magic battle, but the fact that it came from My Little Pony. Deep down, we were hoping something like this would happen, but we never expected it to actually make it to the screen. This was large scale stuff saved for our stories and personal animations! Now, we have canon material of straight-up Alicorn Twilight badassery!

And I hope it was one-time deal.

Yes, that was flippin' fantastic, but this show doesn't need head-exploding action. I didn't fall in love with it because of that, I fell in love because of the simple themes of friendship and the comedy. And the cuteness. Season 5 doesn't need another one of these kind of battles to 'top it' because, let's face it, trying to top this would be starting to purposely pander to us and push the target audience to the background. While I'm sure little girls found this pretty cool, I doubt they want to keep seeing this again and again.

But, I'm starting to ramble. Point is: this was awesome to see, now we can go back to the old pace of the show. I'm sure there are other ways the DHX crew can make things as epic as this.

Trade ya.

Well, this is a start.

I wonder where exactly they were during that fight. Hope they didn't miss it. But now, Tirek has the ultimate bargaining chip: Twilight's friends. That against the fate of the world. Now, some people have said Twilight's decision was selfish in some respects, and perhaps it was. But here's a question: if that was your friends and family hanging in the balance, what choice would you make?

Twilight has chosen... correctly.

Rainbow glow? Now? That can only mean...

The last key draws near. What's it going to be? Who's gonna give it to her?

Better start begging for forgiveness, Discord.

When Twilight told Tirek to release her friends, she meant all of them. Even the traitor. Speaks high levels of Twilight's tolerance for him. But you can really see the remorse Discord is feeling. Was it a little forced? Eh, maybe. But I believed it.

And in hindsight, I should have known it would be Discord to give Twilight her key, but, I can't say I saw it coming so...

The Key of Destiny Magic!

Seriously was not expecting Tirek's medallion to be the final key.

Now, it's time!

What's in the box...

This is the moment we've all been waiting for!

Rainbow powers, activate!

I said it was the Rainbow of Light in the box, so I was kinda right! Kinda. Point is, the Mane Six have achieved Super Sayian forms! And personally, I like the designs. Sue me.

"Tirek crush puny rainbow!"

"No."

So how's that rainbow taste?

Enjoy Tartarus, loser! Say hi to Cerberus for us!

Deus Ex Machina!

So, with Tirek defeated, magic has returned to Equestria in full! Pegasi can fly, earth ponies can farm the land and the unicorns can throws spells at each other! Harmony is back! And as an added bonus...

Look, a new library. Now stop crying.

I mean, yeah, I guess it's a little tack, but at least Twi has a home again.

The Council of Friendship

Wait... is that seven chairs? As in one for Spike? Yes! Acknowledgement! Mane Seven for the win! And I love how it's tucked right next to Twilight's. Her faithful assistant, by her side until the end.

So, I guess they can activate their rainbow powers from their council room and just fly across Equestria like that. There goes the Friendship Express.

Oooh, Coco!

I know there was a montage of all the ponies that helped the Mane Six get their keys, but Coco is the only one I care about. Besides, I think I've bombarded you with enough images. The song was great, however. Very warm and... ponyish.

One of us....

So Discord was redeemed in the end. Again. But, this time it looks like he finally understands what friendship means. Though I do hope he stays a little mischievous. Non-chaotic Discord is boring.

Friends Forever.

And so, Season 4 comes to an end. You know, with an ending like that, I wouldn't have been upset if that was just the series finale. It ended on such a high note. They defeated pretty much the greatest evil Equestria has seen while giving a giant nod to past generations, found a new Deus Ex Machina, and named Twilight the Princess of Friendship. There really weren't any loose ends that needed to be addressed... okay besides the old library, but we don't need a whole season for that.

But, as for the episode at hand. there were very few nitpicks I had with it. It was just so good! I loved everything about it! The pacing, the dialogue, the callbacks, the action! Twilight's Kingdom... gets a perfect 10/10.

Let's watch it again!

Agreed!

Well, everyone, thanks for putting up with me and my ridiculous ramblings. I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did. I think Sunset and I shall return to do season 5. We'll definitely be doing one for Rainbow Rocks.

Oh yes, that should be fun.

And on that note, we're gone! Pony on, guys! 'Till Season 5...

Now, I just need to get my massive review out. Too bad I have lost all motivation. XD

2119294 You can do iiiit!

Nuuuuu!
On the side, great review, Albi. Best episode of the series for me, though I do agree with you in hoping they don't keep trying to "top" what they've done.

Most. Fucking. Epic. Episode. Ever! Even the fight Celestia vs. Nightmare Moon was next to NOTHING compared to THAT! :pinkiehappy:
I for one hope that we will see much more of such epic fights, maybe even a full blown war against the changelings for example? Forget the target audience, MLP is now for us bronies! :twilightangry2:

Personally, I think you're wrong - the seventh chair is for Discord, so Twilight can keep an eye on him. Spike will be running around serving drinks, snacks, and/or giving Rarity hoof rubs. :raritywink:

2120183 Despite all the other nods towards FoE, I don't see a full-blown war arc in a show for little kids, and they are still the ones buying (or rather, being bought) most of the merchandising. When Hasbro comes out with SpaceballsMLP: The Flamethrower, we'll know they've given up on being a show for kids.
