The Twilicorn, Something I need to get off my chest

This is something I wrote at a comment for the Mysterious Mr Enter's review of Magical Mystery Cure. I have not changed it because I had so much raw emotion I got out that I Want it to be read as intended, I just needed to get this off my chest.

    A Different story series

Well I'm writing again, but unfortunately I can't bring myself to work on anything Friendship is Magic related for the moment, which means that, unfortunately, my current writing can't be posted here. The stories are a collaboration between myself and a friend of mine, Fauna Greywolf.

    Deal Breakers

As much as I try to diversify myself, there are just some things in stories, movies, or games that will make me leave them, finished or not, because I can't handle them. Same applies to art and, well, any creative media.

Are happy endings wrong? · 9:19am May 28th, 2012

Is it wrong to have a happen ending for a story? Do people want happy endings? Am I the only person out here who likes it when things go right? Would you guys rather see a story where things start bad or just decent and end horrible?

I want to write stories with happy endings but all I can think of are stories that end badly. My favorite stories like "the Party Hasn't Ended" have hapyp endings, but do people really want that? I want to write a dark story but is giving a dark story a happy ending a bad idea because it will dissappoint people who want to see things end sadly?

I need help, I'm really deppressed and now I don't think I can write.

Bah, I wouldn't worry too much about it, I mean if you don't want to write a sad ending then you don't have to, it's your story. Me, if I see a tag that has grimdark, or sad, but also has something like Romance in it I kinda want to know that there is a happy/decent ending first because sad endings are kinda depressing to me. There are some wonderful stories out there that I will probably never read because they start out sad and finish up the same way so there's no relief from it. "The Party Hasn't Ended" had sad parts to it, but to me that story would have been horrid if the ending involved them failing to save Ponyville and Dash/ or Pinkie dying/being taking over by loneliness.

Really if writing sad endings makes you not want to write, then considering doing them for 'others' really doesn't help anyone involved. If you can't write because people want sad endings then you won't write at all or you won't be happy with it and no one benefits from that because they'll see your hearts not into the writing. I've read many dark stories that end well, "Past Sins" being a classic example of how well it can be done.

In the end, do what you like and if it fails, you know what to change for next time, if you're nice ending to a sad story doesn't work out well, you just need to try again and learn why it didn't work out, it being a happy ending won't be the reason a story fails, but how the end is written out that will make or break it. And if you want a sad story with a sad ending then go for it! I personally may not read it, but I'm only one of a million people on this site, and they most likely will read it. :) Hope that helps.

Dude, it depends on you but really, a twist like that in a dark story will impress most people just remember, you can't impress everyone but I would love a happy ending!:pinkiehappy:

Thanks, I needed to hear that. I'm working on such a story right now called "the Mare I've Loved Before" it's a PinkieDash story set 9-10 years in the future that also is a venue for me to establish my own future headcanon because I can.
