Wow. I mean, just, Wow. Capital letter for emphasis and everything. Somehow against all odds, somepony at Equestria Daily has approved of my story. I mean, I started writing "Kickin' Flanks" way back in 2012! There were only two seasons, the pony phenomenon was at a comparatively paltry size, and I just had this really silly idea for a fanfiction. This is literally the first one I've ever written, and the longest thing I've ever typed outside of school projects. I... I just did not see this coming. Obviously I submitted it through their system, so I knew they would eventually take a look at it, but I assumed there was only a minutiae of a slim chance of them even writing me back. So after I got their acceptance email, I started checking EQD like every hour no matter what I was doing or where I was. It was finally posted today as I was at work, and I had to hold myself back from gasping super loudly (though a tiny inhalation of Fluttershy proportions did occur).
So the point is, all of y'all that are checking out my story, I am incredibly grateful. I realize that there's just a wide variety of posts on EQD on so many things in the fandom, virtually countless stories on this website, and that you all have to pick and choose what to get invested in. The fact that even a small hoofful of you have chosen to read this is incredible. I wish I could write super long things like this to everypony who's favorited it, or commented on it, or will do either/both of those in the near future, but unfortunately I'm right at the end of my semester and I'll have to cram for finals right about now. I'll try to at least write small words of thanks, if I get a moment! But I do want to make a couple of things clear...
1. Because I started writing this during Season 2, Twilight isn't a princess in "Kickin' Flanks". I toyed with the idea of going back and changing her into an alicorn, but quite honestly, it wouldn't have added a thing to the story so far and where it's headed. That said, I do really love the idea of Twilight being a princess, what this has meant to her so far, what this will mean in Season 5, and that Season 4 finale was intense. So I'd like to write something more current sometime. But right now, it just can't fit in.
2. EQD's tagged this as Dark and Adventure, which are 100% true. But I've got an affinity for dumb puns and stupid jokes, so it's not like a constant ultra-gritty fanfic, you know? If you haven't read it, and you're in this limbo of "should I?" vs. "shouldn't I?", just know that I hope you get a couple of chuckles out of it.
3. I'm an incredibly slow content creator. Snails going backwards uphill through molasses could go faster than I write. But now, well, you guys' mere appreciation and interest in what I've got so far makes me really motivated to get this done this summer. Let's hope that I don't have to eat my words.
