I'd call myself a fanfic writer, if I wasn't too busy horsing around!

    Season 5 Retrospective

Right, so it's been a month since I last checked in, and at that time I said I'd write a couple blog posts. Well, the holiday season came at me like a ton of bricks, what with its real-life obligations and so forth. I wish I had been able to put some time aside for writing, but I'm honestly pretty bad about that. But that's all over and I have more free time than usual. So, like I said last time,

    Update: All the Things

Hello. It's been a while. Too long, in fact. I've had some long pauses between my stories, or any other kind of artistic endeavors I've gone on. It's a problem. I want to get back into writing, and I want to finish up this monster of a story that's just become huge and crazy and equal parts fun and frustrating, for myself and for anybody that's been waiting. I like to pretend I'm

WTG Week 3 / "The Lost Treasure of Griffonstone"

Okay, I'm more than aware I'm a small fry on FimFiction with basically zero notoriety or fame (E-fame? Internet illustriousness?), but I said I'd write something for the Writer's Training Grounds for Week 3, and I didn't. And it's worth mentioning why, at least. I could blame a bunch of stuff for preventing me -- I had a final, a job interview, my workplace is undergoing structural changes, one

Double Feature: "Just an Accident" Fic / "Make New Friends" Episode Follow-up!

So to continue my tradition and bad habit of writing more blog posts than stories, but also to somehow cut down on the number of posts I make, I'd like to talk about both my new story for EQD's Writer's Training Grounds, Just an Accident, as well as Saturday's episode, Make New Friends but Keep Discord!

Whatcha gonna do, brony, when the WTG gallops wild on you?

Hello there, pony peoples! It's not very late here in Southern California, but I'm incredibly wiped like you wouldn't believe. Finals are coming up, I'm dealing with crazy changes at work that are much too long to get into, and three days ago I saw the newest edition of the Writer's Training Grounds on

I like to pretend I'm some kind of big-shot when I give updates on what I'm doing and how I'm doing it, which is admittedly not very humble, but... in the case you are reading what I do, thanks for sticking around, and I'd like to tell you about what's been happening. You also deserve to know what I plan on doing next.

Recently I lost my job. Don't worry, I'm fine! In fact, I got a new job immediately afterwards. To summarize things, I worked a very typical desk job, of filing and paperwork. Sometime around March of this year I started hearing some rumblings at my job of the company shutting down. A co-owner left the following month and the office was thrown into some confusion. By the beginning of May, it had become very clear that the rumor was true, and people started leaving and going. I myself was looking for a job, but I definitely could have done more.

Back in May, I jumped into EQD's Writer's Training Grounds too! The reason I started that was to write something besides Kickin' Flanks just to be doing something creatively fresh, and, well, it wasn't the best time to try it. Looking back, my attention was spread too thin. I wrote 18 pages of unfinished stories for Weeks 3, 4, and 5 altogether that I just couldn't complete by the deadlines. In fact, I wrote the beginnings to 2 different stories for Week 4 based on the different prompts. I just wasn't able to focus enough.

By June the company I worked for folded entirely. Luckily, my manager jumped ship to a new company and recommended me there. I started up a couple weeks later. For a while it actually seemed my new job would be also very temporary, and I wasn't ready to focus on writing again because of it, but a couple months passed and things started looking up. I also registered for more classes at my local community college. Easier ones, so that I could still have time to write. And then September brought with it further issues.

This is also going to need to be summarized down, but the long and short of it is my car broke down on the freeway and it cost a ton to repair. Again, I'm fine! My car works, I'm clearly still alive, there was no accident on the freeway, and it's all good. But during this time, both my wallet and my creativity were dried up. In fact, I am still subject to the financial issues that arose from having to continue commuting to work, as well as getting my car back into working condition.

Today I'm actually making more money and I'm choosing to save it. I'll need to, if I want to get a new car. While that means I can't enroll in college for at least the next semester, that will give me time to write. This includes Kickin' Flanks, the sequel, the partial stories I wrote for the Training Grounds, and I had at least one idea for another stand-alone story. There's no guarantee how much of all this can actually be finished up, with the sole exception of Kickin' Flanks. That I want to get done. Furthermore, I'm not going to write stories for all the Training Grounds I skipped. Hopefully that means that what I do have to complete can be accomplished. And lastly, when I start writing again, you'll hopefully see the results sometime in the early months of 2016.

In the meantime, between now and and Christmas, the only things I'll write are a couple more blog posts. I had some thoughts on some key episodes and happenstances of Season 5. And there's the passing of Roddy Piper I'd like to address, considering that "They Live" was crucial inspiration for Kickin' Flanks. This is my last week of the current semester, so I'll have those done sometime after Thursday.

Thanks for reading and understanding, and I'm sorry for keeping you in the dark.
