Quick Question About Series Finale · 7:40pm May 11th, 2014
On rewatch, and thinking about how I can get my History Archives to work with this new backstory, I realised something. Tirek's brother made friends with Starswhirl, right? And then he told Tia and Luna about Tirek's friends because of his friendship. But we know from Hearth's Warming Eve that Clover the Clever was Starswhirl the bearded, and given that he didn't seem to be around during that episode we assumed he was rather old or rather, well, dead. But also in the Hearth's Warming Eve Episode the Princesses aren't around yet. It's just the three different types of ponies.
So, how long did it take Tirek's brother to get up the courage to tell the Princesses? And wasn't his friend, Starswhirl long dead by the time he did? Asking that, how long did it take for Tirek to start putting his plan into action? He must've waited a long time just to have it ruined by some namby pamby pony princesses.
Confusion overload. Plot errors.... I don't think I can cope now.... *goes the same way as the Library*.
P.S. Still like the episode. I can't help it.

2103196 Or Hearts Warming Eve wasn't all that accurate in the first place which is understandable seeing how old the story is. Not only has it been passed down over 1000 years but it's in a performance medium and we know from Luna Eclipsed that Equestrian dialects have changed. With that in mind and the fact that it could quite well have not always been a play and been a song or just an epic poem it is very possible that Hearts Warming Eve wasn't quite the documentary of Equestria it can be taken as.

All that means is that they're changing HWE from a telling of history, as it was intended to be in the first place, into just a story to make way for new cannon.

You can almost imagine it. As Twilight is going all 80's on us Tirek tires to absorb DT's magic, just because he's evil and callous and nothing else. All of the alicorn, pegasus, unicorn and earthpony magic is transfered directly into DT...

2115335 The faces fit perfectly. Apple Bloom's sad at leaving her family to go and be a Princess, Sweetie Belle's confused that she should be given it, and Scootaloo's acting all angelic so that they'll actually let her be able to fly as an alicorn. Twist's just happy to be Twist.
