A crossover with The 'Greg the Zombie' Journals · 3:47pm Apr 22nd, 2014
It occurred to me that I wanted to do a special crossover. Something interesting, and something that would be fun to write. I had considered doing a crossover with Hellblazer, and while I really like John Constantine I started to step back from the idea. It was fun, but not ultimately what I wanted to do. So, digging around through ideas I had something of an epiphany (For those who read Hellblazer, yes it was a pun). Why not make a crossover with a book that I had intimate knowledge of?
That made me jump for joy. There are so many ideas out there for that. Ready Player One? I like it, and I most likely will do it. An Alternate universe story based on the fantastic book staring Button Mash and Sweetie Belle sounds like a hell of a good time. But it's not the story I wanted for the moment. Harry Potter? Yeah, like there isn't a million of those around already. Dresden Files? Okay, that sounded fun, but to be honest I have a feeling that I would be following in the footsteps of someone else.
So, what dear friends what? That's when I looked at my own novel. The very one I published back in 2012. I hadn't considered writing fan fiction based on my novel because well.. it wouldn't be fan fiction. It would be, purely and simply, more of the story. Usable or unusable it would simply be part of the story. but doing a crossover with it... Oh, that could be fun. So, I've been writing the story for a short span now, and I wanted to share a little scene from it.

Dash looked at the gray pony below her. He had galloped all of the way from Ponyville straight to Canterlot. It was impossible. No pony could do that. Even the strongest Earth ponies would need to stop to eat, sleep, take a bathroom break, or something. Instead she had watched him as he continued non-stop. She swooped down and landed in front of him. He stopped his gloss black eyes staring into her own. She moved back unable to take the look of what appeared to be a void looking into her, possibly into her soul.
"Good run," she said.
"I suppose," he replied trying to move around her.
She moved toward him and studied every part of him. Everything from his horn, to his face, every single part of him seemed to scream that something was wrong. Still, she wanted to find out more about him. At the very least how he was able to take off and keep going non-stop. If she could ever learn that getting into the Wonderbolts would be a cinch.
"That was better than good. It was something I'd like to be able to do. Being able to keep moving like that. I'd just about trade anything to d..." she stopped when he turned to face her.
It was the first time since meeting him. The first time ever that she saw any kind of emotion from him. It wasn't anger, or confusion, but instead it was sadness. An intense sadness that covered all of him.
"You don't want this. Trust me, you don't want to go through this," he said.
"Well, if it would make it so I never got tired..." she stopped again as he shook his head.
"No, you don't understand. Imagine never feeling anything again. Never feeling the sun on your face, the wind in your hair, never feeling pain, never being able to taste your favorite foods, enjoy a hug, Imagine always being hungry, always being thirsty, and never being able to do more than satisfy it for a few seconds by doing something that makes you a monster. Imagine that is your life, and it will never end. You'll live forever, trapped in a body that always stays the same, and always tortures you with only the faintest whispers of pleasure, and with a hunger that only increases. You don't want this. Be happy with what you have," he said.
