    Amaranth and the Mountain update

So last night I completed transcribing the first draft of Amaranth and the Mountain. For those of you who remember, about 1/3 of the way through the book I started doing all my writing by hand, which is a time consuming method for writing but one that I felt was well worth it. Now that it's complete, I have some actual facts and figures for you guys: work on the first chapter began on March 23rd

    Amaranth and the Mountain (Preview)

Now that Planet Hell is done, a lot of you have been wondering what's next and when the next entry in the cycle of Eternal Return will come out. To answer those questions, for now I'm working on drafting the final parts of a work of original fiction I'm calling Amaranth and the Mountain, and I won't be thinking much about a return to fan fiction until I at least see the draft done.

Journal Entry #5: Everfree NW 2014 & "Planet Hell" · 4:31am Apr 18th, 2014

I've been gone for a while, and I've got some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that "Planet Hell" is still WIP and in recent times I've gotten off track with editing it and getting things shipped off to my editors to comment on. The good news is that I'm back and ready to work!

The talented Silfeo has completed the cover art for the fic (no, I can't show you just yet!), I'm all but a few chapters from the end, and I feel drawn to work on this piece once again. Sometimes I get really irritated working on it now that I know a more and my talents have been refined. I did a lot of the work on this fic over a year ago, and so at times I can't even stomach to read it. I have to get it more or less all edited up for a portfolio I'm putting together, so I'll get the fic done with by the end of May no matter what, but what constitutes 'edited' is another matter.
I no longer know at this point, of the editors who started out working on this fic with me, who intends to see it through to the end. A lot of them got stuck on chapter 1 due to a rather glaring issue in pacing which I only recently figured out how I believe I can resolve it, but it hasn't been implemented yet. The few that did get past chapter 1 got pretty far but then stopped because I stopped updating for awhile, or I believe that's the case, and it's hard to get back on-a-roll with a project if the times you can work on it are sporadic. I got a lot of damn fine comments on the first 7 chapters, and I intend to address every single one of them in time, but that doesn't negate the fact that it's likely that only one or two more sets of eyes will pass over the later chapters (which there are about 20 of in total) before it comes time to post it and share with you guys. Due to the length of the project and how difficult I've made it for my editors, it's very likely that it won't be nearly as polished and refined as Awakening. I'll get it shipped off to Overly Extensive Editors once the first and second rounds of revision are done with, so with any luck it will still meet EQD's grammar standards, but that's no guarantee that the content will.
The story is coming. It will be posted. It's just a matter of time.
Also, after some lengthy internal debate, I've decided to attend Everfree NW 2014. For those of you also making the pilgrimage, I look forward to seeing you all there!

I'm very sorry for falling behind the way I did. Got caught up with a ton of other projects (mostly RL) and had either zero time or zero energy to do at least a half-decent job...

I'll try and go through them over the next week or so, and will focus on more general issues (i.e suggestions like "this chapter could be faster/slower paced", "this character needs polishing", etc.; I won't bug you about grammar and whatnot). Hopefully that will give it the polishing you desire... :raritywink:

Been wondering where you had vanished to. Glad to hear you're around. I'm still waiting for th newest links so I can start my round of edits as well.

Also, Everfree NW. You lukcy bastard. Wish I had the money to attend:raritycry:

Congrats on your progress! I hope you continue to enjoy your writing.

Don't worry about it. I've kind of fallen off track as well due to IRL matters, but now that some parts of my real world responsibilities require the completion of this project I'm going to get back into the swing of working on it. Have no fear, I'm not writing this to raise complaints about anyone or the work they've done; if I had a real issue with anyone, I'd let it be known in private. My intention was to update people and let my watchers know that the project was still in the pipes, although that the process is a slow one and that I'm going to need to seek help from sources I didn't previously consider.
Do what you feel you need to, and I'll keep an eye out for your comments!

Yeah... real life is real life, but I'm still hoping to put this project to bed by the end of May... or at least a significant portion of it. Do what you can; I'm grateful for whatever help you can spare. Whenever the Index doc updates that's a pretty good indicator that a chapter has been added. Keep an eye out for it and I'll try to stay in touch.

So much hype! I can't wait for it! :rainbowkiss:

awesome. Do contact me asap in order to set-up the woking timeframe and whatever other nuances you may have to tell me about.

I intend to get the last chapters posted to the index by the end of the weekend. I also intend to begin posting to this site in the weeks following May 10th.

Sounds good to me, I'll get to work ASAP.

I may have bit off a little more than I could chew. I'll get it done Monday, or by the latest, Tuesday.

Another story? Well, color me intrigued. I understand what real life can do to derail the progress of a work, but if and when it arrives, I look forward to it.
