Because I guess people do this thing when they make a story. Have a long roundabout blog about that very thing. Warning: Adorableness and lots of words contained within, proceed with caution. · 2:24pm Apr 2nd, 2014

I had not planned to do anything at all this, now passed, Foal's Day. But something about a certain story that broke through my mental restraints somehow caused me to flail my arms wildly with disappointment, mostly in myself, but also the lack of energy this amazing group and it's talented memebers have.

After seeing how much fun the mods were having on the site, namely one Opalescence who was really Pen Stroke, kudos you guys actually got me, coupled with neighsayers and those who were just too busy or not really into the Holiday spirit (of jesting) I, Telaros, most "Tartarus will freeze over before I post another story", ended up catching the latest weather reports of our favorite underworld beach resort to discover, indeed, Tartarus did in fact "freeze over".

With that, and with inspiration that leaked out of my mentally traumatized state thanks to a story I pre-read, of Matt's doing, and with Nyx fresh in my mind as any who think or see Pen Stroke can only really see "Nyx", I—"GET ON WITH IT!"

OKAY, damn. Bite my head off why don't you!

I wrote the adorable mass of black fuss and bowl-cut maned filly with glasses a story. One in which, she discovers something about Diamond Tiara.

DISCLAIMER: The story was done without the express written, in triplicate, consent forms; all of which must pass through a series of tubes and await the stringent and meticulous analytical judges who comb through each and every word meticulously to gauge a fair and unbiased response with the official Pen Stroke NYX stamp of approval.

So, I ask you all today, now that it's post April Foal's Day, to take a moment and check out the latest OTP to grace Fimfiction by yours truly, the story of the century: DiNyx

This is aimed at fans of Diamond Tiara, Pen Stroke's adorable and overly attached filly Nyx, and long time ship a-fiction-ados out there who may have an easier time getting some of the underlying elements in this once in a lifetime story between two very _____ characters. All seen through the mind of an onyx filly with a penchant for being such a momma's filly.

Soon to have a new coverart. Though, for the record, I chose to Play the Kazoo and save a Princess. Sadly, she still got wings in the end, so that Kazoo was practically useless. Not to mention some brown horse got all uppity about 'fixed points' and 'paradoxes' and I was all "Yeah, whatever, I prefer the clarinet anyways." and he stormed off in a huff muttering something about humans or something. Honestly, that dude needs to take that branch out his backside and live a little. :trixieshiftleft:

Anyways, back on topic. As a bonus to the day of all days people now tend to cower in fear of, which is bad... it's supposed to be a FUN holiday, not a mean spirited one... some people just take things too far. :pinkiesad2: but I digress, though I never completed the original 10 ideas I had for the holiday, I did managed to squeeze out a few pictures to go along with my new OTP "Overly Attached Fillyfriend, Nyx" which I uploaded throughout the day yesterday on Derpibooru.

Enjoy!
(P.S. I'll update this with more including one I think MOST appropriate and another with a jealous Nyx. STAY TUNED!)

I'm sure many of you probably want to know. "Doesn't Telaros hate Nyx, though? Why you write such a _____ with her?"

The answer? I never hated her. I just disliked some of the directions and disagreed with the more sensitive crowd that stalk the filly about certain aspects of the story.

At Nyx's core, much like many OCs we enjoy today, and how we got all these great background ponies with non-canon OC personalities injected into them, such as Vinyl and Octavia (of which a story is in the works I'll eventually get to fleshing out soon enough, still very much in its rawest form but it's down in text. But who cares, this is not about those two.), whom people enjoy to this very day. Many of them preferring the narrative over, in many cases, grammar.

So, again, why DiNyx? Well, honestly, I don't know. Why do you breathe? How does your brain remember to continue breathing when you're asleep? It just is what it is. Didn't even take an hour to write honestly. It practically wrote itself with how her character was built. Plus, something about Nyx's character, that I always enjoyed about her, is how literal she takes things. At least back when I knew her, Nyx would have an almost sadistic pension for learning.

But what made her likable, at her core, was her neighvety(naivety for those who don't speak Equus) which, like I said, you take those two elements and Nyx just writes herself.

Say what you will about me, but I do like to keep characters to some degree of sanity behind their actions, to have that plausibility to the things that occur, make some kind of sense. Using what elements makes a character, at it's core, interesting so we can create newer stories with those characters, like many do with Snow Drop and OCs of their own, and Celestia help me I'll likely make one with Diapplootiespoon someday as well, that put them in a new light and show us how they can or would react to these 'out of comfort zone' situations.

I believe in character driven stories. One can do a lot with a character despite not knowing much or anything at all of who THAT character is. And it's been proven consistently with all your favorite background ponies. All the stories you see here today, was that one before them who said, "I'm going to write THAT pony. She'll secretly really be a human who only grew up thinking she was a pony and one day discover the truth and go on an epic adventure of self-discover. And by the end, this hollow shell of a pony will have been given a soul!", sure it's a bit of an over-dramatization there, but, I hope you get the point.

Just because you don't see a character tag supported here on this site, never limit yourself or conform to the mainstream opinion. That stuff just creates and invites complacency and has rotted away our creative nature as a fandom in fiction since Fimfiction became the GO TO PLACE, but certain individuals deciding we aren't allowed to write certain characters.

If you have to, start embedding those character tags in your description of your story. Buck the 'rules' as long as you keep it 32x32 I don't see an issue. If you get in trouble, point them my way. Because creativity should never be hindered by such a currently, and has been for some time since said individual dropped the hammer down, a flawed system that gives preferential treatment for old and overused ideas and conformity.

Don't be afraid to have fun with a story. That's what blogs and friends are for. Groups for those who want a home for under-appreciated characters *cough*DiamondTiara*cough* and just general word of mouth.

Moral: People need to learn to have more fun with writing. Health bars and Star shaped Stickers aren't what's really important. No matter how much the minority of this site want you to believe in their elitist ways. It's true, you SHOULD care for your story. Writing something with the expectation of receiving something is one of the follies of mankind, and why we have so many (flame)wars. We are not entitled to anyone's love or respect. Both of those must be EARNED.
