Apparently that Trixie picture was posted two weeks ago and I didn't even know about it. Guys, if you make fanart, you really, really oughta tell me. I'm right here waiting to showcase your work (and feel good about myself).

Also, funny thing about Trixie there. See those little knives on her side? I always imagined NS-Trixie as someone good with telekinesis, as well as teleportation. In one iteration of Lavender Unicorn Syndrome, Trixie and Twilight had a little face-off where Trixie used numerous knives and swords. That ended up being cut and I never really played up her telekinesis ability in what was eventually released. So seeing those there is a pleasant surprise.

Anyway. I might as well share a few details on what I've been up to, while you're all listening. I've been up to... nothing. I'm on a self-imposed hiatus right now, which means no writing at all. Ideally that hiatus will last over a month from now -- RL reasons. Can't worry about writing right now.

That said, I can't help but think about writing. That dark comedy I mentioned, in which Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo raise the dead and shenanigans ensue, is still up in the air. There's also a Night Shift side-story. The thing about that one is that I don't want to "franchise" Night Shift. That means no direct sequel, or even a prequel. I aimed to write a stand-alone story that happens to take place in the Night Shift universe -- set some 20 years after Nightmare Moon's banishment into the Moon. There would have been parallels to the original, of course: a secret organisation that keeps ponies safe would have played a pivotal role, for instance. But in the end, I feel like scrapping the whole idea because of reasons. Not sure I'll ever go back to it.

I also had a few ideas for other dark/horror fics, short ones. One concerning Rarity, two for Pinkie, and even yet another Twilight fic. I even had thoughts for a few comedies. I know, right? Lots of ideas that still need plenty of development.

As I've said, I'm trying not to write right now. I don't want to fall out of practice, though. So here's a thought: I have a few ideas about the actual start of the Night Shift organisation, Skyglow's backstory, and even a few bits for Omen. There aren't enough to create a proper narrative, I don't think, and it would definitely be for existing Night Shift fans only. That means a rather limited audience, meaning I wouldn't want to post them as an actual separate story on the site. I could, however, post them as a short series of "episodes," in blogs. Anyone who likes Night Shift has favourited it already, so you'll be alerted whenever I post one of these. Think a page of two, a short scene, probably around 5 in total, or even fewer.

Note that I'm not promising anything here, just gauging interest. It could provide a little "snack" for a few people, as well as let me practice writing a bit without a huge investment. So how does that sound? Anyone interested in reading such little episodes?

aww yah! Bitchin Trixie!

Also, you know I hadn't really pondered the beginnings of the whole thing..

Check the DA account of the person who made that Trixie picture, I'm fairly sure I've seen one or two others in that style.

Definitely interested in that episodic stories idea. And please don't scrap the side story. I'm already sad there'll be no sequel/prequel, and it'd suck to have the proverbial door shut on the entire NS universe.

The little episodes would definitely be nice.

More Skyglow stuff would be really cool. While I appreciate the way that she is stylishly underplayed in Night Shift, and both the amount of and way we get information about her past are really fantastic, her character is almost too good to leave alone completely. I would be interested in Omen stuff, though less so, largely because I feel like his character is more in the mystery of his actions than in the small glints of light shone on his backstory. I suppose I feel as though more Omen content would be more adventure and shenanigans and less driven by character development. Still, it would be very entertaining and your writing style is always fun to read.
