One Year Ago - Revisited · 5:30am Mar 2nd, 2014

One year ago today, I released the first chapter of my rendition of the EoP audiobook project. Apparently, sometime recently that thing just passed 1,000 views, and overall the channel has received 70 subscribers.

I'm extraordinarily flattered. Perhaps it is personal bias, but only recently have I been able to listen to some of my stuff without cringing. As such, it is beyond me as to how people have continued to follow and enjoy what I've put out, ever so slowly, and continue to want more. But all the same I know people have enjoyed it , and so I continue to make more: both out of my own personal drive, desire to contribute to the story and share it, and my conviction to continue so long as there are those who care to listen.

But that doesn't mean I'm content with how this journey began. Frankly, I wish I had started on something else, like a short story, where I'd have a chance to practice before putting stuff out. Unfortunately, with Megacon and a chance to meet our lemur overlord around the bend, as well as a race to get something out before anyone else, I pressured myself into releasing something that I was ultimately not happy with, and to this day have a hard time listening back through.

So today is the day that I atone for my transgressions by employing a technique known to many audiobookers who have since grown in experience: I've rerecorded the thing. One year of experience under my belt, and I felt that this is a perfectly appropriate time to go back and show how far I've come. So with that, I present to you the redo of "The End of Ponies - Chapter One: From the Ashes".

I'm still going to keep the old one up, since history is history after all, but I'm hopeful that with something new and better such as this, people might be willing to give the thing a chance knowing that it gets better hehe...

Still, even if not, I've heard from the typed words of Warden that he intends to pick back up on his version of the audiobook, which has me greatly excited. For those who don't know, it's his fault I got into this stuff after all ;)

Finally, in completely unrelated news, I just got got engaged today. Woohoo! ^_^ I'd totally put up a picture to accompany this, except that they're all on my GF's phone, and she's at home asleep now. Oh well, happy day =)

That is all, carry on!

Congrats on the engagement. I'd give you a cigar... but... cabin pressure, maaaaan.

Huge congratulations on the engagement! It seems like at least a quarter of the people I know are getting engaged and here I am not even in any sort of relationship.

Only listened to a couple minutes of the redo, but I definitely like the improvement there. Smooth work there; not to knock your first one, but I think this one would certainly draw more interest that the original. I only hope my own vocal ability hasn't atrophied too much since I last worked on this thing, and I'm warming up my reading voice by reading the Oscar Wilde assigned for my senior paper class aloud. But it's off to bed for me, have to add another short chapter to that bit of novel in my blog tomorrow--and I finally get to introduce another character that matters! Yay!

Dang has it really been that long?!

1887226 I... I don't even know what this is referencing? I'm so terrible and catching references, but I'll take what I get nonetheless lol. Thanks =)

1887424 Thanks, and no rush on you =P She and I have been best friends for years, dating for the last two, and here we are at engagement with everyone saying "it's about time" haha. Glad to hear your thoughts on the redo, and excited myself to see you pick it back up =) As to the story, I've read through the prologue and chapter 1 thus far, so I still have a few more to catch up :3

1888002 Yes, yes it has. Crazy how fast times flies!
