Apologies · 4:03am Feb 10th, 2014
As some of you might have noticed, I've gone dark in the last few days and there was no update of my story Starcrossed, even though I said I would have a new chapter out in a week. While I do want to sincerely apologize for being waylaid by unforeseen circumstances, I would also like to explain said circumstances.
For one thing, as I mentioned before, school has been becoming hectic. I am on a border as thin as a razor for keeping up my academic qualifications and I have two major grades tomorrow that have the potential to dig me into a deep enough hole that I can't get out. If that happens, I lose my scholarship. If I lose my scholarship, I can't attend college anymore, and if that happens, not only are my dreams of being a professor shattered, but I will have no career path. Overall, tomorrow determines a great deal of the next few years of my life, so what little time I have been able to spend working I have spent on those classes.
In addition, a small family matter came up. To give a little background, I have always been extremely close to my grandfather. He was my mentor, my second father, and my best friend all in one. Everything I have learned about being a good man I learned from him. However, he died about a year and a half ago, leaving my elderly grandmother, whom I was just as close to, alone. As such, she has suffered from deep and intermittent depression, and often she feels very alone. I have been coming home from college at least once or twice a month since I left for Troy. January, however, was particularly bad because until this weekend, I had not seen her since shortly after Christmas. Therefore, I dedicated the majority of my weekend to spending time with her.
Lastly, there was some fraternity business. Sadly, due to the nature of said business, I cannot disclose it. Before your minds exaggerate that into something horrible, it isn't something illegal, we didn't haze, and no one was assaulted in any way at any of our events. It's just an issue involving certain traditional overhaul in the fraternity. That took up the last ounce of time and energy I had left.
In conclusion, I'm really sorry that I missed my deadline, but it was unavoidable. While you guys are great friends and I love that you guys are fans of my writing, the honest truth is my real-world life has to come first without exception, especially concerning family. I hope you all can understand that.
Hey, between family and hobby, one should go with family first. Have to ensure their comfort before you go do your private stuff. Perfectly normal.

Thanks for understanding.
Of course, as with me, school does come first.
It's no problem at all.
