A Couple of Answers About Wubs. · 2:37am Feb 10th, 2014
I've felt like I've let you all down with canceling Wubs North Of The Border. A lot of people liked it and for a time I liked it to, But there was a lot of things going on in life that was just preventing me form working on it. I feel like I should detail the reasons as to why I cancelled it in the first place.
Reason number one: School
When I was writing it I was trying to get into Game Design for college. I was trying to focus my time on drawing and trying to do 3D art in Blender. I then found out that I was absolutely abysmal at art as I didn't have the gumption and I had shaky hands. So I focused on my studies and tried to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. I decided I wanted to become a journalist. I might as well put my writing skills to use.
Reason number two: Ran out of ideas
I have a rough layout of the third chapter that detailed the performer trio hiding out at John/Vinyls parents place in the Niagara Wine Country (Niagara's a nice place. You should visit.) I was writing along and then it hit me: "Oh shit, I have to drag this out until the group has to make it to the portal back to Equestria." I knew you guys would lose interest quickly if it was just the three drinking heavily, slowly transforming and just basically fucking around. I had some other ideas trying to get them out of the house but then I realized that they wouldn't be good in the long run.
Reason number three: Lost interest in Five Score.
Now don't get me wrong I like Five Score. I wasn't able to keep up with it and quickly fell behind in the chapters. I was kind of out of it at the time and just didn't want to get around to it. I knew if I wanted to write the fic, I would have to read the whole fic over again and well... Other fics caught my attention and I was done. I also didn't like having to follow the rules of the universe as well. It restrained my creativity and I felt less empowered.
And now the last and final reason: The Great 5Score Crackdown of 2013.
When the mods did the crackdown on the Five Score fics, I knew this wouldn't be good in the long run. I felt like trying to pass it off to another person but by the time I was passing off the fic to Berry Punch (Check him out, he has some cool stuff) the hammer came down. I tried to see if it were possible to transfer the story to Berry but to no avail. Especially now seeing how he's going through a rough patch (Mostly depression) and focusing on his own creative works and it's in his back-log as of this post. It might not happen.
If you people are still wondering if I would continue the fic, the answer is probably not. I had fun with it and seeing how people liked it. It was great for a while. I may have moved from this to crossovers but hey, it was good in the long run.
Now I would like to show you a little thing I found on Derpibooru the other day as this was uncanny to the appearance of John in Wubs. (It even had the hoodie and everything, HORRY SHEIT!!)

Aww, sorry to see you leave it. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
I know what's it like to totally lose interest in a story one is writing too, and trust me, it's better to formally lay it to rest instead of just leave it as "Incomplete" forever and annoying everyone waiting for the update.

To be honest I thought you haven't read it at all. It seems I am wrong. Still, it's better this way.
I kind of laughed when the crackdown happened as it just directed more attention to your fic.

I usually read the first chapter or so of each 5score fic, though near the end I stopped reading them as there were so many. You had one of the first ones though!
And yeah, the crackdown was pretty amusing. A good 25% of my total views came when that rule was posted on the front page. Gotta love making lemonade out of lemons, hehe.
