    Amaranth and the Mountain update

So last night I completed transcribing the first draft of Amaranth and the Mountain. For those of you who remember, about 1/3 of the way through the book I started doing all my writing by hand, which is a time consuming method for writing but one that I felt was well worth it. Now that it's complete, I have some actual facts and figures for you guys: work on the first chapter began on March 23rd

    Amaranth and the Mountain (Preview)

Now that Planet Hell is done, a lot of you have been wondering what's next and when the next entry in the cycle of Eternal Return will come out. To answer those questions, for now I'm working on drafting the final parts of a work of original fiction I'm calling Amaranth and the Mountain, and I won't be thinking much about a return to fan fiction until I at least see the draft done.

Journal Entry #4: Ask Me Anything! · 1:01am Jan 30th, 2014

So, I've taken the idea that Honesty is a virtue to heart and that the Truth isn't something to be afraid of. So I've, metaphorically speaking, decided to put my money where my mouth is and hold an on-going AMA (ask me anything) until the end of the week. It's a long story why, but essentially it's my belief that there isn't anything I can do about my past, so I shouldn't be ashamed of anything I've done as that's not who I am now. If I'm doing something currently that I'm ashamed of, then I shouldn't be doing it in the first place and other people would be doing me a favor if they called me out on it. If I'm ashamed of what I'm currently doing because of cultural or societal restraints (ex: I'm scared of being made fun of), then the problem rests more on others than on myself and any insult to me injures the transgressor more than it does me, and I still have nothing to be ashamed of.
I began this challenge in my fraternity house after a long conversation about Truth and why it's a virtue to be truthful, ask I've already had to answer a lot of questions about, well, I'm sure you get the idea or what a bunch of 18-24 yr old males would ask given the opportunity, so I won't say what those were unless asked. The only questions I've ever feared answering were those I felt / worried I could not answer accurately or would take time to answer.
I wanted to open this AMA up to my watchers here on FiMFic (you guys), so go ahead and ask me anything. The only questions I will not answer are those that put me or others at risk (such as account information, addresses, test answers, and spoilers to upcoming fanfics) and those that I feel violate the privacy of others.
Go ahead, Fimfic, ask me anything!

Any gay experiences?

What's your favorite shipping pair?

Why Tibet?
No, wait, we had that already....

Don't you think twisting what one may refer to as truth is a so much sweeter experience than anything one could gain from honesty? Sure, truth preserves, but there can't be enough truth to make an eternal life worthy.

My question: What's the most terrifying music that you've ever heard? :duck:

(ex: I'm scared of being made fun of)

You shouldn't be. After all, if they do, then you've managed to capture their attention, which means that you're already halfway toward victory. Being ignored is far worse...

I have to take that one on a case-by-case basis. Or should I say, fic-by-fic basis. It honestly depends on the fic, but I'd say more generally Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash.

1772650
Nope. I will say this though: I don't identify as gay, but I don't feel straight is an entirely accurate way to describe me either.

1772762
I'm sorry, can I ask you to re-iterate the question? I'm afraid I don't understand.

1772865
I'm not really scared by music, but I think this is the creepiest and most emotionally disturbing song I've ever heard. It was used in a dead space trailer:

The title translates as, "The Death Song."

1772913 Why bother about truth?

Have you ever wondered where you're going with your life? Have you ever not?

If the world were to end tomorrow, who would you punch in the face? Who would return the favor?

Can you either confirm or deny that you exist? Are you sure?

If life is what you make of it, what flavor would yours be? Is it pistachio? How about purple?

Have you ever stopped to think about how silly it all is?

1772935

Hmm... close, but no cigar... :trollestia:

For me, this is the real deal... :pinkiecrazy:

How would you describe the awesomeness of alpacas?

1772949
Here's the answer in a nut shell. I could spend many hours walking you through it, but I can't in this format.
Alright, the truth of reality enables and expands choice. Being truthful with yourself allows you to grow and enables your ability to make choices in your own life and accomplish your goals. Being truthful to others not only allows you to grow, but its also a way of leading by example and enables those who see the merit in it to find the courage to be truthful themselves.

1773155
Yes, but I don't think it's needed to plan out my life in detail, so I don't.
I wouldn't punch anyone in the face, but I wouldn't stop anyone from trying to punch me. I'm sure there are a lot of people who'd take the opportunity to punch me, but I can't speak for them or their intent, so I don't know who and can't say.
Yes and yes. Whether you believe me or not is up to you though on that one.
Absolutely nothing. Or everything. Both simultaneously? Once you hit absolutes everything and nothing become one o.O I read a lot of metaphysics.
Yes, and that's why life's too silly to take seriously.

1773871
:trollestia: cake

1774129
Because I choose to. That is the only reason for anything in my own life.

1776123
Um, that's subjective, man.

1791194
I'd describe the awesomeness of alpacas as very alpaca-y.

1801371

Very well, a less silly question then: what's the strangest idea that you've ever had and decided to execute in some form?

1801404
This one time I wrote a fanfic about a unicorn who crashes her spaceship on an uninhabited planet and has a spiritual and personal crisis. Also, there was a giant centipede and a dragon.

1801418

Seriously? And I keep thinking it was the stoner griffon... :pinkiesad2:

Oh wait, I've been meaning to ask this one ever since the first chapter of Awakening: do you have any personal experience with meditation (and was the meditation in the story based on that)?

1801455
Yes, I have. Some have been quite powerful and profound, at least for myself and in the context of my own life. Although Lumina's experiences differ drastically from mine, my experiences helped me shape hers and are part of what inspired me to write Awakening. She and I share the same basic experiences of having met non-physical guides and teachers (all of which I still turn to for counsel today) and of being out of body, but what we took from those experiences differ as drastically as the difference between myself and her and the distinctions of who we met. Lumina is out to save the galaxy; I'm just trying to make my own kind of music.
