How many races could there be in Equestria?
From what we've seen so far in the show, it's mostly pony variants, i.e. zebras and then mythical creatures.
What other creatures could live here? We've got Diamond Dogs and Changelings and Dragons.
I think there could be things like reindeer or giraffes, so why aren't there other creatures shown? I think it would add to show a little to have so many different species interacting. What other creatures could be in the show? I'd to see how people think who could influence these ponies lives.

Well, if I ever get far enough and the series lasts long enough, when I finally get to the volume in The Witching Hour where Midnight goes looking for her father I plan on about half a dozen hybrids, such as harpies, laminas (nagas), moth ponies, sea (river) ponies and other such creatures.
but as more towards what you're asking it's possible, and has been done (check out RealityCheck). I think it's just how and where you present them (a giraffe can't just show up in Ponyville without a reason)
I think you're doing well with your story so far and its reindeer characters. Unfortunately after watching Frozen all I can picture is Sven.

I just think they're a lot of animals that could be used.
Zecora was kind of just thrown into the story, literally she walks into town and causes pandemonium. I just like the thought that all these kinds of creatures could be out there that could be in the MLP world.
Also, never saw Frozen but I hear good things.

well with the world building going on this season it's a possibility. apparently we're getting at least one new race this season: the breezies.
yes, Frozen is a VERY good movie
