My top five favorite FiM characters have changed many times over the course of the time I've been in this fandom. They'll probably even change again, soon.
My top five favorite FiM characters at the moment, though, are these.
5 — Octavia — She's just a great character, especially when used side-by-side with Vinyl Scratch, whether it be romantically or not. Also, I'm a musician, so her character appeals to me in that way, as well. And dang, is she cute.
4 — Twilight Sparkle — I used to dislike Twilight's character, actually, and I'm not really sure why... She's a great character and it's so fun to watch her learn over the course of this show. It's also fun when she gets really mental, which happens quite a lot. My personal favorite of the six main characters.
3 — Lyra Heartstrings — I'm not sure I've read a bad fic with her in it. She just has such an awesome personality and it's fun to watch people write her in their own ways, while still making sure to capture the original personality that made me love her in the first place. Also, Background Pony made me cry, for weeks. And weeks. And weeks. I'm still kinda not over it.
2 — Princess Celestia — I loooove this character, and I love watching her interact with all of the other ponies. Honestly, if I were going to be stuck under an eternal dictatorship, I'd want her to be in charge. A giant white dictator spreading friendship wherever she goes. Now that is awesome. Also, she could easily have a ridiculous amount of secrets, secrets we fanfic writers can use.
1 — Stiggerzz — Not only is he best princess, but he also comes preinstalled with a really epic, manly Australian accent. Now there's a cool dude. He always joins all my groups first, and he... he really taught me what friendship could be. Thank you, Stiggerzz, thank you.
Actual #1 — Angel Bunny — I know him by a different name, but that's irrelevant. He is definitely, without a doubt, the true source of all evil in Equestria. This dude is bad, real bad, but in a good way. Angel Bunny is best pony.
