(SPOILERS!)WTF, I waited months for that episode!? Are you kidding me!? · 4:18pm Dec 14th, 2013

That's it!? I waited months for that? I wanted to see Scootaloo and Dash have some one on one awesome training moments. I wanted to see Scootaloo fly, and if she couldn't, at least a good enough reason why. This ep gave us nothing with substance. Yeah sure the morals were cute, but we've kinda already got that the races live in peace and friendship in Ponyville. The whole damn shows about that...

Where's the training? Where's the sweet tender little sister moments where Dash comforts Scootaloo? Okay, so her wings are too short now, but may grow in, and one day she may fly. Got that, they aren't committing to jack. The episode began strong, gave us no real substance in the middle, and ended weak. Diamond Tiara and her pet Spoon never even learned their lessons. WTF Writers? WTF?

After what happened between Dash and Scoot in Sleepless in Ponyville, I was nervouscited at the beginning of this episode. I nearly squeed when it started. I've been chomping at the bit for months. Yet, I don't think I could be more dissapointed. I'm going to write some Dashaloo, cause this crap episode just fails.

i still hope she flys in this season at one point tho it was good:scootangel:

I'm inclined to agree. There was hardly any interaction between Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash except at the very end. I wouldn't mind so much if there was a promise for something more later (an episode dedicated to teaching Scootaloo to fly/finding out why she can't) but that seems very unlikely.

I can appreciate that the writers were perhaps in a bit of a Catch-22. If they wanted to make Scootaloo incapable of flight, making it a disability episode, there ran some risk of the wrath of moral guardians. If they made her fly, it would interrupt the status quo of the Cutie Mark Crusaders. Either way, there would be some fan backlash whatever they did.

This episode had serious potential, and wasn't without its highlights, but it didn't really measure up. Though at least some of that is going to be due to how Scootaloo fans like you or I hyped ourselves up for it, so I can't completely blame the episode alone.

Personally, I enjoyed it. I agree that it would've been stronger if they explained Scootaloo's inability to fly explicitly, but that's not enough to write off this episode as a disappointment.

You said that the moral was simply about friendship, but look harder. The moral I got from it is to be proud of what you have. Scootaloo is awesome, whether she flies or not. She just didn't realize that at first. :scootangel:

I also think more interaction with Rainbow Dash would've been detrimental to the episode. The CMC weren't the only ponies Dashie was coaching. She couldn't just drag Scootaloo aside for some one-on-one time. Plus, her loyalty to Scoot still shined through in the end. They still had their tender moment; it was just brief because they had to get a move-on.

It had its weak moments to be sure (Diamond Tiara really sank to a new low here :facehoof: ). But overall, I thought it was very good. Not one of my faves, but it still earns a honorable mention in my book.

This way we can continue to get fics about Dash and Scoots, hmm?

Silver linings.

1605760 Agreed, I hope she fly's at some point too.

1605765 If she had been disabled, I can deal with that. I'm disabled, who am I to judge? In fact I would have found that to be amazing on the writers parts to go there. They have a track record of committing to timeline continuity, which this episode sorely lacked. :trixieshiftleft:

Yeah I get the hype thing, still they could have handled it better than twiddling their thumbs and completely avoiding the commitments they already made between the sister bond. :ajbemused:

1605909 Yea, yer right. That was a good moral, and I loved it the first time they did it in the last episode with Dash while they were tossing the idiot ball around. Though I did like seeing the moral again with Scootaloo, and this time being delivered by Dash. The problem I have is with the story itself.:applejackunsure:

The point isn't that Dash couldn't be with Scoots because of the restrictions within the story itself, it's that the story restricted Dash completely and failed to deliver. The story as a whole felt like it was trying to commit to too much. They started off with a good premise, and jumped right to the point, but it ended weak as far as the storyline is concerned, and DT/SS never got their moral lessons. They just got away with attacking a disabled pegasus without any repercussions. Sure, their absolute disgusting dispositions should speak for themselves as wrong, inappropriate, and amoral, but children might not pick up on that. So that was disappoint. :unsuresweetie:

What I'm saying is that the story itself should have been entirely different, and there were much better options. As much as I love Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle, the expectations for that ep were for Dash and Scootaloo to have one on one time, not for Dash to be spread all over the place coaching other ponies. If this episode leads into Dash deciding to coach Scootaloo one on one, then it will immediately get an A+ in my book for buildup. That would be amazing, and I will take back EVERYTHING I said. I mean for them to build up the feelz, need, and suspense for that special ep we were all waiting for, then OMG these writers are amazing. But if this is it, and we don't get a serious sister ep. I'm'a be pretty sad. :fluttercry:

1607585 I love that silver lining. :yay::heart:
Hint taken, I'll get to work.:raritywink:

1607921 but it does look to me like shes a late bloomer the way i see it

1607941 Ya know, I kinda hope she's disabled, but works really hard to overcome it with prosthetic feathers or something and can fly anyway. If they did that, I think I may actually tear up.

1607953 well on tweet thay said its not decided if she will fly or be disabled yet so still a mistery but we saw her home so shes not an orphan or homeless :scootangel::rainbowderp:

1607968 Wait, what? She went home? When did that happen? I thought she slept on the stage. :pinkiegasp:

1607978 u see dash and cmc go to her home did u miss it? u might want to re watch it

1607985 Yeah I will! I was so busy waiting for the sister moments I must have completely missed that!:pinkiegasp:

1607991 i watched it on a live stream cus tv wasent working :derpyderp2:

1607921 Well, honestly, I felt that Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon were shoehorned into the story. Their dialogue was incredibly forced. I mean, don't you think it's bizarre that two Earth Ponies are picking on a pegasus about not being able to fly? What made them an authority on flight? They might as well have gone after Sweetie Belle for not using magic in the routine. They know just as much about that as they do about flying. :ajbemused:

So really, they didn't belong in the episode in the first place. The same effect could've been pulled off if Scootaloo just overheard some other students talking about flying, or better yet, if Rainbow Dash was complimenting a flying routine for being impressive. :applejackunsure:

1609941 I think bully's will sink their teeth into any weakness they can find really. In this case the taunting isn't targeted at Scootaloo not being able to fly, but being a pegasus who can't fly. The difference is that not only are they targeting the disability, but the disability in relation to her expected racial abilities, and how useless she is because of it.

Thus, it would exhonerate them from any implications that they were also lacking since they can't fly, being earth ponies. So, it's even worse, they are saying Scootaloo isn't only disabled, but a failure to her race. The writers literally set up an attack on a disabled filly using vicious racist undertones.

Which makes me smile. Cause that shit needs to be covered, and taught as a lesson! The writers staged something that could have been one of the greatest lessons ever taught in a childrens cartoon about bullying someone for, not only their disability, but their race. OMG, and they just drop the ball, and failed to ever do anything about it. No lesson here, DT and SP get off without so much as a "I'm not stooping to your level" comment from Scootaloo.:facehoof:

However, I really didn't want to come out and say that yesterday because I was so mad about it, and racism really isn't a can of worms I wan't to just pop open willy nilly without a level head. Iv'e been bullied for both my disability and my race before. So this episode hit hard on way too many levels for me. The built up sister suspense let down, and the bullying setup, execution, and subsequent fail both left a really bad taste in my mouth.:fluttershysad:

So in the end, I would have to agree with you. I would have much rather seen Scootaloo just overhear Dash saying how awesome some flying routine was. Else, I wouldn't be considering doing a follow through with another Dashaloo episode where Scootaloo uses her new powers to kick some snotty little filly flanks. :twilightangry2:
