An announcement (FOR ALL MY READERS, FRIENDS, and STALKERS)

So, Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat.

At this festive time of year, I feel that I want to be able to take all my time I normally expend on school and pleasure and stick with my family. I am leaving home this upcoming year, and want to squeeze as much time out of my last Christmas here as I possibly can.

    So...

    How are all of you?

I am working more-or-less on the story. Between vacation, my birthday, and preparing for fall term (full-and-a-half time student), I'm just a tad busy.

I'd like to say that I can get back to work in a certain time frame, but I don't know when. :twilightsheepish:

Anyway, just wanted to check in.

    Hey guys, I'm back!

    Dija miss me?

After a school-induced hiatus (keeping a 4.0 is not an easy task), I'm back...

...next week (the week after finals). Even then, I will be job-hunting and working on some self-directed study. Oh, lucky me.

In other news, I'm still slowly working on My Little Civil Activist. I have a "mini-chapter" almost completed, but it won't be completed until next week at the least.

If you read My Little Civil Activist, but do not follow me (dood, you're missing out), than you should be able to see this.

Did it work? Did knighty clause come through?

Oh, and to keep this story-related, I thought I'd give you guys a quick behind-the-scenes look at how I came up with this. Consider it a birthday present (my story turned 1 a few weeks ago!!)

Waiting for Season 3 was a beast, almost like waiting for Season 4. I was bored, so I went back and watched episodes. Me and my bro were watching one, and he was all like: "Why do you think there are so few guys in this show?" I responded (naturally) with "Because it's intended for girls." But he was like "No, besides that. Let's make up a reason." I suggested that maybe they all left Ponyville, at which point he asked why. We came up with because there are no men in any office in the show (other than Blueblood, but he seems more like a figurehead) there was some sort of inequality, at least in Ponyville.

From there, we determined that, in our headcannon, stallions are on the receiving end of some sort of discrimination. After fleshing this point out, we decided the reason they don't live in Ponyville is because there is no opportunity. After a few days of discussion, we decided that, most likely, if this were true then Stallions wold logically have formed some kind of coalition against it.

Another thing we determined was the alignment of the Element-Bearers. Twilight was easy, being from Canterlot (which we determined probably has progressed since then.) She was obviously against it. Pinkie Pie was also easy, she would obviously be best friends with everypony involved, and as a result be totally for everypony being equal. Fluttershy, we decided, would tend toward neutrality, not wanting to offend anyone. Rarity, we decided, would end up trying to keep up appearances, and as a result side with whoever the more affluent citizens side with, at least initially. Rainbow Dash was tricky. I think in the end, it is obvious she would be on the side of the majority, to keep up her popularity. Applejack, being a descendant of a founder, has the only logical reason for fighting it, which is tradition and family.

About a month after parsing this out, the fic you have before you was born. Glad you enjoy it as much as I do. Thank you all for your support and encouragement. I especially wish to thank Exilio for prereading.

Oh, and belated happy thanksgiving. ;)

Works just fine it seems. Interesting to see the thought process that resulted in the story in question.

Really?:derpyderp2:
I was so sure you were just spacing out during a lecture about Civil Rights while thinking about ponies when you got the idea, oh well did you at least do that while developing the plot?:trixieshiftright::rainbowkiss:

1566735 Actually, yes.

I was simultaneously studying MKLJ and Cesar Chavez (who happens to be mi tia's Godfather) while writing this story.

(No, I'm not catholic. :pinkiehappy:)

Didn't see that coming, but it's an unusual thought process to explain why the way things are in Ponyville. I really want to see as to how you'll get Rarity and Applejack to join the stallion's rights group. Can't wait to read the rest of this now.

What an interesting backstory! I always find it fascinating how wonderful things can spring from such small seeds.

As a great man would say...

"Smashing!"

That's how you thought of it?

I thought you were high or drunk or something. You seem more sophisticated and fancy now. *slow clapping*

The story tagging worked. I've favorited your story, but I'm not following you. This blog turned up in my feed anyway.

So :yay:!

dood, you're missing out
