I'm eighteen, I'm in OPP, I live the thug life, I smoke weed every day, I don't take shit from nobody, and I write fanfiction for a show about magical ponies.

    My birthday

Yeah, it's today. I'm 18 now, I can go die for my country, vote, and get some chick pregnant, all in the same day! I can watch R rated movies, too!

    Spooky

It's spooky month and to celebrate I'm busting out the Zombie Deimos and the new name. Also a chapter update for Living Like a Princess, arguably the spookiest story on this god forsaken site.

    Holy Shit

New Yorker just emailed me this:

    Dear Ben,

Thank you for sending us the enclosed submission. While we’re not able to use it in our publication, we recognize that it indicates promise, especially for the age of its author. Keep writing and reading, and take classes if you can. Best of luck to you.

    Warmest regards,

    Paul Muldoon, Poetry Editor

    Growing Up

It's starting to happen. I just submitted two poems to the New Yorker, and plan on submitting them to other literary magazines shortly. Christ, you have no idea how nerve wracking this is. It's like the first time I posted something on here, except with much higher standards. I know my chances of getting even one of them published are extremely slim, but... Damn. Oh well, if it

Shit. · 2:52am Dec 1st, 2013

So I was sitting there, and I was all like, "im gunna rite somthin!" and so I was looking around my room for inspiration, which usually comes pretty quickly. I got a lot of stupid, fun, and good ideas, but then I realized... they'd all been done before. Croosovers here, zombies there, adventures, romances... every idea that I thought of, I remembered had been done better by someone else. So here's my question, are at the point now where most story ideas have been done before? I don't mean like the general idea, I mean your idea has already been created, and writing it now would be like plagiarism? Think of how many tens of thousands of stories there are. Just food for thought, I'm gonna keep sitting here and gazing wide eyed at my massive room, just covered in posters, until I think of something gold.

I had that same problem, that you think that your idea might be taken. Some guy told me this:

It doesn't matter if you have the same idea as a person, it's like a stranger wearing the same shirt as you, you don't know he is, so you can't do anything about it.

That's pretty much what I thought when I first heard about "Pride, Prejudice, and Zombies."

But there is still room to take an "already done idea" and make it your own. Equines, Ethanol, and Estrogen did the "ponies get drunk" thing, but Social Lubricant (which I recommend) proves there's never any one way to write an idea.

Personally, I happened to chance upon the idea of "Pony as epic fantasy, as if it hadn't been for little girls," an idea I actually had hoped to see done before before I realized I would have to be the one to write it. Now it's to the point that we couldn't write the same story, even if you stole that general idea. I kinda lucked out.

1563364 Which was another thing. I got a few ideas, but they would go on, and on, and on. I'm just looking for a quick, fun thing to write. I'm already working on a short story that isn't pony related, and that's got all my emotion and hard thoughts going to it. I need to channel all my bullshit feelings into a story so I'll stop being such a dick to people.

I think I would write more if I could think of an idea that I didn't feel the need to expand on. For some reason, I can only think in terms of long things. I wish I could write more than just one short story.

1563384 Same. Oh, the joy of one-shots.
