Web domain and intellectual property cannot be held as a liability in a case against the users of said items.
Free speech laws apply,here. they can get 9gag to have more stringent standards but not much else.

There's a lot of offensive stuff on youtube, but I don't think the entire site could or should be taken down on charges of causing emotional distress.

this was not the best way to handle the issue.

knowing the internet, there will be a cruel backlash should anything radical come about that's not in its favor.

it would have been better to start a rally of support and good will toward the victim rather than antagonize the amorphous mass of anon for the actions of a relative few.
