Very occasionally, I post pony stories. Twilight Sparkle is the best pony. I drink my tea with milk, no sugar. Those would be the important bits.

Live Reading by The Architect + Apple Bloom knows Kung Fu? · 12:04am Oct 31st, 2013

I've been a bit quieter than usual around here as of late. I've been getting a lot more serious about job hunting these last few months, and it's been a little bit distracting. There's certainly been no other reason.[1]

Anyway, the first bit of news is that someone by the name of The Architect did a live reading of Never So Far Away. Once again, I'm amazed that someone decided that one of my stories was worth taking the time to do a reading for, so a big thank you there. It can be found here.

In other news, I've been re-watching season one lately, because bright, pastel ponies are always a great method of un-jittering those pre-interview jitters. I'm up to The Show Stoppers and I noticed something I hadn't noticed before. Remember how Rainbow Dash was teaching Apple Bloom kung-fu back in Call of the Cutie? Well, at least up to Show Stoppers, it appears that Apple Bloom might well be keeping up with her lessons. She's certainly all about the kung-fu "dancing" during the talent show. Which means Apple Bloom may well know kung-fu.

Has anyone done anything with that?

Just think about the possibilities. Sensei Rainbow Dash and her student Apple Bloom take on the world in an action packed, wushu genre adventure. Rainbow wouldn't even need the wires to do the wire-fu stuff. Or perhaps it could just be used as an unexpected character point to whip out and surprise everyone with.

I have no idea where I'm going with this. I got as far as Apple Bloom may know kung-fu and decided I had to point this out to anyone who would listen.

I mean, Apple Bloom. May know kung-fu. Apple Bloom. Kung-fu.

Is that not news?

[1] Most certainly not finding out about Kerbal Space Program.[2]

[2] I'm a physicist [3] by training and they gave me realistically simulated rockets and a whole solar system to play with them in. Sweet Celestia, it's like siren song.

[3] Am I okay to call myself that? I have no idea. I'm not exactly doing any right now, but I do have my name on a few papers. Though papers it feels like I only contributed a tiny bit to. Life would be so much simpler if I had a cutie mark to refer to.

Dear readers of Powered's blog: I've had the opportunity to talk about physics with the gentleman in question. Please accept my assurances that he is, undoubtedly, a physicist.

He's also insane, but that's not really important at this juncture. :pinkiehappy:

And then there was an episode on how Applebloom could totally take Diamond Tiara but decides not to because with great power comes great responsibility and such and I don't know where else to go with this that's why I don't write also PUNCTUATION.

Oh hey I didn't know you had a tumblr! Permission to stalk? :pinkiecrazy:

Please, of course it's important. Insane physicists are by FAR the best physicists. They are the ones who discover all the cool stuff. :pinkiehappy:

The thought that Apple Bloom knowing Kung-fu is pretty terrifying.

Now, imagine Apple Bloom teaching the other two crusaders. :rainbowderp:

The physics defying abilities which, as I understand from seeing feature films touching on the matter, are granted by knowing kung-fu would explain many things about the cutie mark crusaders.

Apple Bloom. Kung-fu.

I've seen it mentioned once or twice. I think it might have been a major plot point in one story. About a year ago now. Definitely an under-used character trait.
Also - worry not. The CMC only acquire their unholy powers of destruction when they work together. So long as the other two don't express an interest in maretial arts (Sorry!), the world is safe. Or at least, safe from that particular method of ending.

Also, Sweetie may pick up a few things from her sister as well. And we know Scoots has skills.

Oh man, someone needs to write this.

Horse style kung fu.

Now, imagine combining said Kung-Fu with the possibility of Apple Bloom acquiring Zebra shamanism from Zecora.
...Headcanon acquired, that carpentry cutie mark can sod off!

Stalk all you want, but I don't really use it. I mean, I would, but I don't know what to use it for.

All I really have to add is while of course it was technically just a massage, Fluttershy's martial arts skill dealing with that bear is impressive enough that I see her as the one who taught Dash and Rarity. Obviously she's too scared to actually use said skills, but in a controlled and safe environment she can wipe the floor with all comers. The idea is also hilarious. But what do I know really, my version of Fluttershy is so OP it's not even funny.

That's brilliant!

Fluttershy could be like Master Oogway (Kung-Fu panda). She is peaceful, in tune with nature, and can take out even the most powerful warriors by without breaking a sweat by lightly tapping pressure points. Then she can shake her head sadly, wishing that others were wise enough to not need to resort to violence.

I loved Kung-Fun panda's master and master of the master set up. Master Shifu got to be a far more interesting character by being in the middle.
