    Bookish Delight (FINAL)

    (sort of)

    Hey, folks. This thing on?

So I was originally trying to write this big essay blogpost about where I've been and the future of Bookish and all that, but... it didn't pan out. So we'll do the much, much shorter version that should still tell you what's important.

    WELCOME TO THE FUTURE

Did you think it was over

...yeah, that's fair, so did I. Still need to talk about that when I'm able. Until then...

    ELa Famille Royale
The Zephyr Heights royals just helped change the world. Unfortunately, this isn't the first time they've done so, and they'll have to answer for that... just as soon as they work on themselves.

    Question For the Crowd!

What, in your opinion, are Equestria's most significant locations? (i.e. Canterlot, Cloudsdale, etc.)

Please keep it to... oh, top 7, and excluding Ponyville/the Everfree Forest.

Thanks to all who answer!

Back to Business -- Literally! · 1:46am Apr 21st, 2012

And so, a new P3 Project episode is upon us! I hope you all are enjoying it!

A quickie project postmortem, if you're interested:
- The idea to focus on Applejack's thoughts and feelings as a businesspony actually came to me way back in 2010 when I planned the P3 Project in the first place, and I'm pretty surprised to hear that said business aspect doesn't get touched on that much fic-wise! I come from a very money-minded family, so once again, here I am writing what I sort of know. ^^; Then again, I suppose it makes sense--even the show only covered it in short spots here and there, and this story saw me cobbling every piece of info I could across both seasons to make things work.

- I wish the Oranges had been given names. For a fanfic writer, names are power, and apparently one of them has one, but for the sake of consistency, I just kept them both as "Aunt Orange" and "Uncle Orange." It seems to have taken just fine, which is good, as that was one of my worries upon releasing this.

- Received a few comments to the tune of surprise that Dash and AJ were in the same place and not kissing, to which I merely smile because I actually hadn't thought of that myself until I was done. :) I liked "Fall-Weather Friends" as much as the next fan, but... oddly enough, shipping Dash and AJ has just never come very easily to me mentally. I'm not against it in the slightest, I'm just unable to see it for some reason? Writing about the two of them interacting did help me understand why they work well together somewhat, and it was great, great fun.. but I'm not sure I'd go any further. Not that the world needs me to by this point. :D

- There's a line at the end about Dash and AJ possibly having gotten the wrong elements and that they should be switched. It's there for laughs, but as much as that theory gets thrown at me my friends and fellow fans, I personally never really agreed with it. Rainbow Dash is plenty loyal (the first two episodes, "Mysterious Mare-Do-Well" (where her loyalty actually morphs into a character flaw), "Dragon Quest," and "Hurricane Fluttershy" come to mind offhand), but imperfect at being so, and AJ's the same way in terms of honesty (I don't even need to point out examples here). Loyalty also contains elements of honesty (no pun intended), and vice versa. Furthermore, one of the main purposes of Friendship is Magic is to teach those characters, and thus impressionable young viewers, lessons about living up to their given elements. If the characters were perfect in their archetypes, we'd have no show--or worse, late-era Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, and really, who wants that? :D

But you don't come here for tame rants and dated pop-culture references (...or do you? Let me know ^^;)! As far as I know, you do come here to find out what's next on Bookish's table!

Fireball! Part 3
The race between Rainbow Dash and Scoota--ahem, Fireball--gets even hotter as the two tear towards the railroad and orchard town of Appleloosa! However, outside parties wait in the wings, each wanting to take advantage of Equestria's biggest spectacle for their own personal gain... and in Part 3, the first of them finally makes her move! Her identity? To be revealed when the chapter's out, naturally... but we will say that heavy is the head of she who wears the crown. ;)

Climax Pegasus! Part 2
I guess I'm officially coming back to this, as I find myself constantly tapping out parts here and there in fits of boredom! :) Viewtiful Joe, Sexy Silvia, and the Elements of Harmony team up to combat a foe bent on draining Equestria of all of its magical power! To be featured: heavy metal (literally!), verbose descriptions of colorful special effects, and a concept I hope I can bring to fruition before a good friend of mine renders it completely obsolete!

Mystery One-Shot: Project Groove
The story that's furthest along right now, so don't be surprised if it gets released first. This one involves something--well, a couple of things--I said I'd never, ever do, but sometimes fanart inspires you, and then you realize that the concept hasn't been stressed (or really, even tried) in the fandom yet, so why not? I'll be going for a happy, subdued and tender exercise in atmosphere; given my penchant for fast-paced storytelling, I'm hoping I can rise to the challenge I'm setting for myself here. Also, should things get a little more... heartfelt than usual, please don't be surprised.

That's all for this update! Oh, and form-upgrade has been delayed, but is still in the works. :)

Until next!

Sounds exciting. Can't wait!

Good stuff. I should probably get to reading the P3 one day.

My personal views on shipping are very utilitarian.
I don't care about WHICH characters are being paired, only whether I LIKE the characters or not. Also how well the shipping is WRITTEN.
AppleDash specifically is 2 characters I like but is, imo one of the worst written ships overall. The number of AppleDash ships I have read that I liked can be counted on 5 hooves (a feet only Pinkie can accomplish).
Also IMO Fall Weather Friends is not indicative of shipping to me. I see far to many platonic friends of all gender combinations act the way they do in that Ep without it "meaning" anything.

Heh heh! Agreed on all counts, especially judging pairings on how well they're written.

But careful... I might consider that a challenge. :pinkiehappy:

Well I would consider egging you on if there weren't already 5 more or less acceptable AppleDash examples I am familiar with. I just find shipping fun and silly in general, but AppleDash seems to be the ship everyone makes "serious business". I maen is there even a single AppleDash comedy? ALL the best shipping I've read is either adventure or comedy.
