Of Kingdoms and Cutie-Marks: Developer Notes Entry 4- Tapiria · 2:03am Sep 14th, 2013
I'll be honest here. I totally blame Civilization 5 for making me want to do this country after doing a Brazil play through and doing some research on the historical Pedro II.
So, with that in mind, let's take a look at the Tapirs.
The Empire of Tapira dominates the eastern half of their jungle choked continent, all of their large cities hugging the coast as the jungles become more dangerous the deeper you go. The deepest regions of the jungles are the lands of the Chrysalis Changelings, and other lost horrors.
Despite this, the Tapirs are well known for their love of life and the grand celebrations they throw across the nation each year during the week of Carnival. They celebrate their freedom, their independent spirit and the fact that they've carved one of the planet's more successful nations out of inhospitable jungle.
The Tapir military are well known for being some of the world's finest jungle and anti-insurgency fighters, due to the nearly constant skirmishes with Queen Chrysalis's forces.
The current ruler of the land is Emperor Placido II the Magnanimous staunch ally of Equestria and personal friend to Princess Celestia. While beloved by the people for vibrant economic growth, strong defense of freedom of speech, and respect for civil rights; many of his military advisers think that he's far too beholden to the throne of Equestria and that his support of the Free Hive of Venexia was nothing short of insane.
For his part, Placido continues on as he always has, guiding the ship of state for the good of his people and his allies. But old tapir is getting weary of ruler ship, and he is looking forward to letting his son take over the throne soon.
Next time: The United Kingdoms of Regula, Zebrica and the Ivory Coast.
