I finally figured out how to put this thing on my profile. This is the best thing to happen to me since Princess Celestia teleported me to Equestria so that I could romance her student and sister.

Taking Yourself Seriously · 7:38pm Sep 12th, 2013

You know... the reason I have almost no blog posts is because I look at my number of followers and say, "I need more before my blog posts can have any meaningful discussion and be enjoyable for the posters therein." This isn't exactly true, but it's what the topic addresses.

There are two regular blog updaters whom I follow. One of them has many followers, the other has little followers. One of them gets plenty of great discussion on his blog posts, the other occasionally gets a decent blog, but most kind of taper off. One of them has very long, well-thought out stories and chapters, the other produces a lot of random things for a lot of different people.

I know that the former cares deeply about what he writes and how his followers feel, but I occasionally question the second person. They both take themselves seriously as writers, they just have different ways of pursuing that route.

I write for a still somewhat unknown news website, as we report on more exclusively news and news-related topics, but our readers enjoy it. I take our site very seriously, but I always do my best to not ask the readers to comment on their feelings on something, instead letting them speak for themselves in the comments if they so choose. It's not my job to goad people to talk and increase hits on our site; they come to read news, not play politics with us.

That being said, I'm proud of what I do on that site, and I'm proud of what I do on here, despite my supposed low viewer count on both. I take what I write and what I say seriously, but I sometimes feel that the reader doesn't take me as seriously. In the case of the two blog updaters I see, I take the former with many followers seriously, while the latter with less followers is not really serious to me.

How do you know whether or not to take a writer seriously? Even if they write silly one-shots, they still take themselves seriously, and there are serious posters in their blogs. I'm quite opposed to cheap tricks in order to gain fame, so I stay somewhat silent and don't talk much, but when I write, I care deeply about what my readers feel.

In other news, next chapter of Sky Captain should be out by the end of the weekend.

I admit sometimes I get a little inflated, but... you have your head on straight. In all honesty, I wished The Pony That Never Was had more views and such, but it's refreshing to see you don't try to force popularity.

You have my respect

Taking things seriously is for kids!

Heh... thanks. :twilightblush: I like to make sure you guys have quality, even if it takes a little while to get chapters out. I was really diligent in writing The Pony That Never Was because I wanted to make sure my readers were regularly updated on it; it's also one of the most vivid story ideas I've ever had.

I do occasionally wish that I had more views, followers, favorites, etc., but I'm happy with who I have. Having even one reader is enough for me.

Well I'm not a reader. I'm a fan. That was one of the best stories I've ever read and I hate how overshadowed it is.

Oh, um... :twilightblush: I really don't know what to say. Thank you for liking it so much! :pinkiehappy:
