I really like these posts where I ask you questions and you answer. I loved all your answers on the last one, so how about another?
What is your favorite pony ship and why?
Mine is (quite obviously) TwiPie. I never knew this ship existed until I read Causality and then I was intrigued enough to search out more. From there I read things like Experimental Variables and I just couldn't help but fall head over hooves for them. I love the dynamic they have between the intelligence and no nonsense approach of Twilight and the vivaciousness and joy of Pinkie; not to mention that the two of them are my favorite ponies and are both bright, girly colors.

It's hard to pick one, specific pairing above all others, but here are some of my faves:

Absolutely. While most others I'll entertain the other possibilities out there, there are two pairings that are absolutely, solidly part of my headcannon: Lyra & Bonbon, and Octavia & Scratch. I don't see any of them with anypony else. >w<
And RariJack... they already squabble like an old married couple. It only makes sense that the bickering is a cover for something more. *giggles*
Why does no-one believe me when I say GildaxCelestia?
Honestly, I don't think I can pick one! For most ponies I can think of two or three potential partners that I like to read about. The only real exceptions would be OctaScratch and LyraBon.

Shipping the Mane Six is fun because they work well with each other; each one has at least two pairings that I really like.

Twilight and Pinkie Pie are a joy to ship; Them together is great, but Applejack and Twilight, Twilight and Fluttershy, Twilight and Rainbow, and Pinkie Pie and basically everypony.
Of course, AJ and Fluttershy is also good, as is Big Macintosh and (insert mare of choice[except RD, AJ, or PP]).
TwiPie on number 1. I had it kinda like you, only I found TwiPie while thinking of a good Twilight ship, and it just made so much sense... been shipping them since.
Then come:

Spike x Rarity
Lyra x Bon Bon
Octavia x Vinyl
Dr Whooves x Derpy
Cheerilee x Big Mac
Luna x Fluttershy (currently on a debate with this one)

I love any ship in which either Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, or Fluttershy are shipped with one another (a.k.a. PinkieShy, DashiePie or Flutterdash). ^^
- Pinkie Pie x Fluttershy: Oh god, the cuteness. THE CUTENESS. Shipping these two is basically a guarantee to raise one's blood sugar by a factor of thirteen.
- Rainbow Dash x Pinkie Pie: These two are already adorably close with one another, especially with their fun-loving, devil-may-care attitudes. It only makes sense to me to see them shipped. ^^ In fact, one of my favorite shipping stories in the fandom is "The Make Me Better Boutique," because damn it they're cute together in that one. :3
- Fluttershy x Rainbow Dash: I love the relationship that already exists between these two - how they've been friends for a long time, and especially how Dash was so nice to her in "Hurricane Fluttershy." So to see Rainbow Dash fall for Fluttershy, or the other way around, is adorable to me.
Of course, everyone knows OctaScratch is a nearly obligatory but also one of the best pairings ever, no matter what. ^^ Oddly enough, I've actually tried to look for Rarity x Rainbow Dash and Rarity x Pinkie Pie, but so far I've only found one of each: "Any Port in a Storm," and "Seeking Beauty."
So, uh, yeah. I think that covers all the favorites. ^^

First, thanks for the shout-out for Experimental Variables. Heh.
I like lots of ships, and I'm a big believer that almost any ship can rock if done well, but for me there is only One True Ship: RainbowPiiiiiiiiie! Loved it right from "Griffon the Brush-Off," as it just struck me that Pinkie spent a good chunk of that episode just MOONING over Rainbow Dash. Initially, I think I just liked the idea of Rainbow Dash, this cool as a cucumber tough guy character, being completely flummoxed and outwitted by a character like Pinkie Pie, who is basically just a big ball of joyous chaos. It's a fun dynamic. (I dig TwiPie for similar reasons. Also, I'm just a sucker for Ditz x Brain ships, in general.)

"Fixing Up Miss Smartypants" and "Three Magics" also have RariDash (in addition to other ships), and "Assumptions" has some minor RariPie.
68510 Big Mac is kind of a no nonsense guy. Pinkie is... well, Pinkie. Their dynamics just wouldn't work out. Although, I'm sure you could write something that ships them together and I'd start loading on praise for it.
As for Rainbow, it's a two parter- when there's so many other ships that are more natural or have more evidence(can we call it that?) in the show, including one in the same house*cough appledash*, it's kind of missing out. There aren't exactly a whole lot of things that point to them with big flashy signs. Two, I've had some bad experiences with the ship, leaving me to believe it cannot be done well. I did see one on EQD, but I had these flashbacks...
I really have to stop letting the memories of terrible stories of ff.net taint my preferences in the here and now.
