For those of you who don't know, CGotG is in a bit of a snafu. Correction, a lot of snafus. All strung along like Christmas lights.
Enough snafus to make me want to put this whole thing on hold until things get fixed. I love this group and I still want to write, but honestly, some of you guys in the group (you know who you are) are making it really hard for me to keep that drive some times. When I joined the group, I thought the mods and canon authors were like friggin gods, but now....my respect for most of you is through the floor and six feet under. The ones who still have my respect are good friends and I try to help them or talk to them about ideas and such. I still think most of your stories are better than mine, if not on the same level sometimes.
Anyways, due to this story being my most popular one (seriously, why do you guys like it?), I won't cancel it in case I feel like writing again. Instead I will be working on my other story, The Hidden of the Everfree, and possibly a clopfic. Both stories I want to write because they are fun and I get to test my skill.
I'm not leaving the group and i'll still visit the chat sometimes, even help with organization or something, but right now, I just want to step back and take a much deserved break so I can get started on college.

Because it's not complete garbage like 90% of the fics I see on this site on a daily basis, and I actually enjoy it, even if there's an error here or there.
Also, don't worry. Take your time, clear your mind, then come back and write some gold. I'm just glad you aren't one of those authors who takes a pile of feces, sprinkles glitter on it, puts in in the microwave, then uploads it and calls it the greatest story ever (and somehow get to the feature box.)

If the other chessgame writers are being a pain in the ass, then just don't write a story completely canon to the chessgames. You can continue this story without it being canon to CGotG, and very few of us would complain. Hell, the only other CGotG story I read is Blackwing's, and as far as I can tell your stories haven't even crossed other than you mentioning Griffin.

I have...reasons. Mainly, I've been using canon as my crutch. If I went non canon, I'm not sure what I would do. Most of what I've written was off the seat off my pants.
Non canon does have some prospects though. still not sure what I should do.

I enjoyed your work, despite it being a CGotG fic. The main reason I dislike the entire group is that everyone usually creates an incredibly powerful, Deus Ex Machina protagonist who has a clear and overwhelming advantage in ANY situation.
Then again, that is a charm in and of itself. You've done a wonderful thing for us in writing your story, all I ask is that you don't forget us.
Beware the path of the clopfic. Plot without plot leads to a lack of free hands, a lack of free hands leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to the Dark Side.
I could make a tissue joke in there, but I like to think, read lying myself to sleep, bad Star Wars references and ponysex are too high class for a tissue joke.

Glad to hear it. In my understanding, Clopfic is synonymous with smut for the sake of smut. Where the Sex tag is the primary motivator and the Romance tag is just there for the pretty deep purple color.

But it was so good! Especially because, to me, the story made it feel like there was actually a larger world outside of Equestria (or a larger Equestria than is usually written about or shown on TV), a living beathing fully realized world, rather than revisiting the same old places from the show, just for difference (or sometimes the same) reasons. Also the MC was overpowered, but overpowered in what I consider to be the right way. He used and experimented with his powers in multiple ways, and used his head to make newer and better tools and weapons for any situation that might arise, rather than relying on plot convenient "Nakama Power" bullshit the way most MCs (both written and animated) seem to do...a lot.
Point is, it was a fantastic read, and though you may have put it on the backburner for now, I still love it, reread it on occassion, and look forward to any new content with batted breath.
4449620 I'm glad you enjoyed it, really, but I don't know if I could pick it back up again. To put it simply as I can, writing that story was like going through author puberty. Lots of crazy ideas, wacky friends, feeling invincible, and making a lot of questionable choices with each chapter. Looking back on it, some of it was good, but imo it's got a lot of cringe stuff a la red and black alicorn OC self-insert, not to mention the miasma of bad memories from being in the group (like I said, it was wild).
I've more or less grown out of it and matured as an author. Now I will tell you that I did toy with recycling certain ideas and aspects of it into a new fic, but i haven't been able to get that off the ground yet. However, I recently read up on a manga called Re: Monster (which is a lot like this fic, and it's awesome!) and now that I think about it, I could try to sort of 'reboot' this fic, but remove all of the chess game canon and keep references to show canon minimal as well. That may have to wait though. I don't have the time like I used to when writing this story and for now, it'll just have to stand as a monument to my writing sins.
I'm sorry to disappoint, but if it makes you feel any better, I love the story too. It was my first one and it drives me to improve myself even today.

I honestly love your story and i hope you either continue it with it being non canon. I honestly want to see what happens next. Which I think many of us here are okay with. A rewrite is still greatly valuable, though since I read this story twice
(Same with your Guardian story)I just want to see a continuation. But if you ever try to rewrite this good gem, dare I say second up there after the Good ones. Griffin the Griffin, Echo the Diamond dog, samurai wolf boi & winged wolf boi, etc. (I forgot their names lol) Though I place your story above the Wing wolf guy. Though I have a foggy memory of the samurai, so I'll have to re read that one as well. Anyways, please message me.
