Fanfic Narration Commissions! UPDATED PRICES! · 6:49am Jul 21st, 2013
Yes, I have been debating it for a while, mostly due to my uncertainty that I could actually drum up interest for this particular venture. I have been doing narrations/story readings for a while now, and doing voicework for a bit longer. They are indeed very fun and I love lending my voice to them. At the same time, I am in a similar situation to many young artists these days (and pretty much everyone really) I am not really making a whole lot of money with the jobs I currently have, and earning some extra on the side would be very helpful.
That said, I figured that offering up my services to narrate an audio-version of your fanfiction would be just about as legitimate a side-business as someone with great drawing skills offering to do art commissions.
Here's a few of my past works (in other non-pony things too) for Half-Minute Horrors (2011) , The Punishment (fanfic for Portal 2, 2012), and a short one for So Long, and Thanks for all the Ponies (2012)
Now, what I'm offering would be a fully narrated, fully-acted recording, split up however you like (although by chapters would be the default) into a zip of mp3s emailed to you to use as you see fit. I would record and edit them, but as of right now providing mixing/music would be difficult for me since I no longer have the supplies/equipment to do so. If you really want me to add music though, I could try but keep in mind that would mean paying a bit extra for the efforts.
The price list for now shall stand:
-Fanfic (any genre, excluding R34/clop, any fandom*) shorter than 50K words: $5.00 USD per chapter
-Fanfic (any genre, excluding R34/clop, fandom*) 50K words and up: $15.00 USD for first chapter, 5 per each additional chapter
-R34/clop fanfiction is not completely out of the question, although my accepting of the job would be prevalent upon both wordcount and my own personal discretion. Rates would be negotiable.
-Original fiction: follows the same rates as fanfics
{*Concerning fandoms I am not familiar with, I am not opposed to giving them a shot so long as you provide me with the appropriate research links to learn about it}
Specifics:
-Please only submit your own fanfiction/original fiction. I know of some stories I'd love to hear read too, but if you don't have the author's permission I don't want to get in trouble.
-If possible, please only submit completed stories. This way the process will not have to be drawn out any more than it has to.
-I plan to be fairly accepting of work, but I reserve the right to decline an inquiry for any reason.
-These files would be for your own personal use to put in your ipod/mobile device/make into a CD/whatever, but since you would be paying me, I would expect at least a small bit of recognition or credit should you choose to post any recordings I do for you onto a public site (youtube and the like).
-Regarding voices of characters, I'll do the best I can with them, but I'm going to be really shooting for an audiobook feel, where the narrator does try to keep the characters as differently-sounding as possible.
-Length of the work would dictate how long it might take me to read/record/edit your files, but payment should be given after I have accepted the job but before I begin recording. [we're gonna try it that way at first. It will give me more initiative to do your story justice]
-For now payment will only be accepted through paypal. Some other method might be accepted depending on if this goes well.
-Authors with stories currently listed on my profile as Top Five or 'Ones That Need to Update Soon' can probably get a discount. ;P (With the exception of tSC. because if Wanderer D actually expects me to tackle that glorious mountain of a story I would need some serious incentive ;)
-I WILL still be continuing with CatnStat with Statoose over on youtube, this is not connected with that in any way. The stories we do for CnS have been chosen between us and we work at our own pace.

1237306 a favorite scene? Wow. That's a hard one... actually no, but it might be a tad longish for a scene if the whole of it were done... at about 2k words. but yeah, my favorite scene ever would have to be Sweetie's last scene at the Gala from TSC: TBNE part 4, where she calls Rarity 'mom'.
