Or... Shining Armor's eyes were green when Chrysalis was controlling him... perhaps it a failed attempt by chryssy to bring Twi under her rule? The black armor looks kinda like a shell to me, especially the Chestpiece.
1218653 That's it. Twilight still had some of Sombra's magic, and when Chrysalis tried to control Twilight, she mixed the two magics, turning Twilight into a mutant of two worlds.

1218656 Good concept, good concept. But what will the time frame be? Maybe a prologue with Twilight gaining powers and/or abilities from each battle? And then something traumatic happens and unleashes these new found abilities

Twilight was rizen by dragons, learned part of their magic, but became what true dragon is: very few very close friends and incredibly powerful feelings and violent magic fueled by her emotions. Growing up, she taps into draconic magic even more and to get its true strength, implants herself some draconic cells. After that she becomes ambassador of draconic clans in Equestrian Federation.
Anyway, for me she is clearly half-dragon, but very young one (no wings yet), and she still relies on magic, but it is more draconic and less unicornic.

What if twilight never realized that the illusion of Celestia rejecting her was just an illusion. So that when she came back to reality she gave into the 'blackish green' magic and studied it and other bad magics (Necromancy, mind control and soul magic for example). In hopes to make Celestia proud of her once more.

What about Twilight falls for King Sombra, or maybe he visits her in a vision and its revealed that he was not an enemy, but that 'Tyrant Celestia' was destroying the Last Bastion of the Resistance, and that Twilight must rebuild it?
