Commissions? · 11:56pm Jun 6th, 2013
I'm really short on cash these days, and I've been going over several ideas on how to fix that situation. One that crosses my mind is doing commissioned stories. I know artists do commissions all the time, but fanfiction is kind of a different beast. What do you think, if I were to try that, would any of you be interested?
I imagine for payment I would charge by the word, with a target wordcount range agreed upon beforehand. Then I would ask for a non-refundable deposit of a certain percentage of the price, with the rest to come on delivery and discounts if I didn't finish within an agreed on period of time.
I wouldn't do any clop though.
Per word? That sounds a bit much.

No it doesn't, it's the only way to actually make any profit (in relation to time spent) at all.
Maybe half a penny per 2 word? Meaning a 1000 word one-shot would be £5. Cheap as I am, I can acknowledge that fanfiction takes a damn long time to write.
This would give him £5 an hour per commission. Which is as low as I would go if I were doing commissions, god forbid.
1129148 Ah. Now it makes sense.
I'd bite, to help you out, but I'm poor myself; the only money I have I'm saving to finally buy myself a labtop, which I desperately need. Y'know, with how much people talk about money growing on trees, I'm surprised someone hasn't figured out how to do that yet.
