Gilda’s had a big day.
What started as a normal, soul-crushing day of work quickly became a frenzied fight for her life as she broke free of Princess Pinkie’s mind control. Horrified by the topsy-turvy moonpocalypse of Canterlot, Gilda fled, leading Princess Pinkie on a winding chase through the city bazaar. In the end, she was caught and nearly gobbled up by the monstrous moon god, but thankfully, the real Pinkie Pie was able to distract the beast long enough for Gilda to escape to Joe’s Diner.
Battered and bruised from hours evading the Royal Guard, Gilda was healed by Sunny, who used the stored magic of the pendants she and Joe had retrieved from Luna’s room. Sunny explained that these pendants can collect “life being lived,” capturing strong emotion as magic. They agreed to recharge these pendants and use them to defeat Oni, before turning in for the night. Last we saw, Gilda was fast asleep, exhausted from the day’s events.
Earlier, we'd learned from Celestia's diplomatic papers that Gilda was, apparently, now married to a fella named 'Godric,' which was how she got her job in the first place. She did not seem particularly enthused about the marriage.
Also of note is an old dragon's tale Luna had told to Oni, back on the moon. She and Celestia had heard this tale from the Dragon of the Knotwood Forest, two thousand years ago, when they freed his land from Discord’s chaos. It described a world where the unending strife of the dragon race had caused their magic to “awaken,” and bring about their destruction - a vision Sunny herself witnessed upon Oni's arrival.
After a botched attempt to talk some sense into her sister, Sunny Skies was treated to a vision of two recent dreams of Joe's, each involving her in some way. One was a spectacularly embarrassing fantasy involving Sunny and Luna, and the other, seen only briefly, was of Princess Celestia laying on the marble floor, bleeding from a small cut at the base of her horn. Though Sunny carries a similar scar at the base of her horn, she did not remember where it had come from. She had the distinct sense that what she had seen was not a dream at all, but rather, a memory of Joe's.
Though Joe's history is sparsely detailed, it's known that as a colt, his name was once White Lie, and that he'd been gifted with the ability to "see lies, like they were real." In his words, “It was like there was this whole other layer to everything, to the world, and I could see just this one, stupid, tiny, useless little part of it.” After an incident shattered his horn, he has lived a different life, with a different name.
Later, Sunny came face-to-face with Princess Pinkie in Luna's bedroom, and was dismissively tossed into the sky. Joe, in a moment of panicked desperation, summoned all the magic he could to slow her doomed descent. It worked, but it hurt. A lot.
Exhausted, Sunny, Joe, and now Gilda have regrouped in Joe's Diner, forming a plan to defeat their otherworldly foe.

Haruko from the FLCL manga, actually. The guy who drew it, Hajime Ueda, is probably my favorite manga artist... looove his style. It's incredibly simple and clean.
Here's a couple pages.
He's done only two short series, and there's not any indication he'll do more, but... a man can dream...
