Updates on RL, Readings and New Fics From Me

Hi all.

For everyone who saw my previous blog, my mother is home now and doing much better. Her confidence has been knocked by the heart attack and she still can't drive but the improvements have been grand. Many thanks to everyone who sent me messages over this difficult period. I may not have responded to all of them (several times because I was too choked up to see the keyboard or construct a coherent response) but rest assured that the outpouring of sympathy didn't go unheard.

Right, on to more cheerful things. I've been writing up a storm in the meantime, trying to get at least halfway through Bon-Bon the Demon Slayer by the end of the month (Mysticalpha did some spiffy cover art for it, which can be found here), which would be a lot easier if an Octavia/Vinyl fic hadn't taken my brain hostage. It's something that has been on my 'to-do' list for a while but I always envisioned it as a one-shot around 4000 words. Currently it's entering its final act and it's 28697 words. Methinks I may have to switch to chapters. I also started an Applejack fic set in Appleloosa, but that one is on hiatus at the moment while I sort out these two.

Regarding my fanfic readings, I'll update the Master List with these ASAP but in the meantime here are some of the audiofics and comic dubs I've been putting out on YouTube lately for your perusal.

One year after Vinyl Scratch has passed away, Octavia struggles to cope. (Octavia/Vinyl. Romance/Tragedy)
A tragedy that doesn't, actually, have a sad ending. It's not a happy ending either though. Despite some of the content in this fic, this is one of the most realistic depictions of grief and coping with the loss of a loved one that I have ever seen in fanfiction (where authors often kill off characters will-nilly but rarely deal with the consequences in a believable way). This reading is the longest one-shot I have ever done but I'm glad I did it and I hope the fact that it's a tragedy doesn't put people off listening.

Something funny to offset A Silent House. Random, wacky, with much Trixie and much making out. ;)

How do you explain to someone that you want to be something else?(sadfic)
Metaphorical sadfic. You'll have to listen to understand what that means. Set prior to S3.

A storm of epic proportions sweeps over Equestria, leaving the ponies of Ponyville to try to piece their lives back together. (adventure, hurt/comfort, tragedy, friendship)
Ensemble cast genfic is difficult to find, so this one was great to do. A story about pulling together in a crisis, set during S1.

When young Twilight Sparkle is afraid of the thunder and lightning one fierce night, there's only one pony who can comfort her and show her that there's nothing to be scared of: her Big Brother Best Friend Forever.
Sweet little slice-of-life about the childhood of these two. Simple and short.

Teenage Vinyl and Octavia talk about life.
If A Silent House isn't your cup of tea, this more positive version of the characters might suit you more.
