So yeah, Sunset Shimmer being in the Equestria Girls movie is now a reality. Something I was hoping would not happen. I'm still trying to process my feelings for this. Right now I'm mostly upset because this has the potential to roast my story alive in the fires of canon... if it is canon. If not, this could still have some potential consequences. I don't even know right now.
Overall, the movie looks... meh. I'll watch it (on youtube) but I don't expect to enjoy it. Of course, that might just be the Sunset bias I'm having right now. Uggh, my mind's on overload from finals and junk. Currently, all stories are on hold until may 24th. Then I'm free! Freeeee!

I knew that you would react to it like this XD Don't worry, though. This isn't canon for the show, but it is canon for the universe... if that makes sense. That is what Meghan said about it. Basically, the events in the movie will never be mentioned again. Ever.

Really, it is up to the fandom at this point. I would ask an admin about it.
I wouldn't worry about it. Slap an AU tag on it if you have to. And if the movie is really bad, everyone will just pretend like it never happened, like Spike at Your Service.
Sunset of Time was actually what I thought of when I saw Shimmer for the movie. But hey, as long as it's not in the series I wouldn't count it too much. I'll probably end up preferring your story over the movie anyway.
Do not worry one bit about the movie -- it isn't cannon anyway. The movie is AU.
Man, went scrolling through some of the old blogs here and checking all the comments out here really is something compared with how Sunset and Equestria Girls are viewed today for the most part. People hoping the movie wasn't canon, that it shouldn't go any further, and so on. I wasn't that involved with the fandom at that point and I had no idea of all these preconceptions. I just went in, watched it for what it was, thought it was fine, not perfect, but fine, but I was left with one question: What happens next for Sunset? Seeing how far things have come since, makes me proud to have Sunset Shimmer as my favorite.
