Important Question: Babs Seed, Private Eye, or The Casebook of Twilight Sparkle and Trixie Lulamoon? · 2:20am May 11th, 2013
I've got this tagged for both Let's Get a Wiggle On and One Honest Mare because these would be sequels/side stories in the same universe, fleshing out Equestria Noire, and I would like your opinion on which one to write first, and by opinion, I mean whichever one gets more votes will be written.
I'm working on setting up a portfolio so I can start working as a freelance writer (Sweet Jesus, the job market sucks right now). As such, I will be writing every day, for most of the day. Some writing has to be for fun, though, so this story won't slow down updates for One Honest Mare. One could argue that 6 weeks between updates couldn't get much slower, but I will be updating much quicker now, at least one chapter a week.
So, point of the post. What would these stories be like? Both would be a series of short stories, with an overarching plot. Babs Seed, Private Eye would be the standard Noire hardboiled detective story, starting with her setting up shop and possibly ending with her getting the telegram from Applejack offering her a job. I'm not sure of the finer details at the moment, but you could count on Babs kicking some flank. The Casebook of Twilight Sparkle and Trixie Lulamoon would be a cross between Noire and the Sherlock Holmes stories, the two of them working as Celestia's best secret agents against the Platinum Council. Trixie would be Watson, telling the story from Trixie's perspective, which Taxus thinks would be entertaining.
So which will it be, folks? I'm going to write both for sure, but whichever one comes first is up to you.
Ugh, those choices are both awesome! On the one hand, Babs is in desperate need of some good fics to her name.
On the other, a Sherlock and Holmes tale with Trixie and Twilight?
Eh........ Babs. If for no other reason it hasn't been done yet.
1069209 One vote, and an excellent reason for Babs. Thank you sir!

Don't call me sir, I work for a living.
Yes please.
1069218 I think I'm going to do as the drill sergeant, staring me down, is telling me
As much as I like the idea of the Babs story, The Casebook of Twilight Sparkle and Trixie Lulamoon sounds like it would be fantastic. Also, there aren't enough Twilight & Trixie fics that aren't Twixie fics (not that I dislike the pairing, it's just been done extensively).
I vote for Babs because reasons.
1069351 Honestly, there'd be a bit of Twixie going on, but Twilight would be oblivious, because Twilight. Stuff like Trixie dropping innuendos, and Twilight taking them literally and gleefully accepting her help with something completely unrelated to sex.
1069377 Oh God, it keeps becoming a tie! I might just have to write both, because reasons.
1069400 Heh, I somewhat wondered after I left that comment if I had stuck my foot in it a bit in regards to your story plans.
Mild Twixie would be fine too!
More Trixie/Twilight is never ever a bad thing.
Sherlock Holmes sounds good!
1069423 I figure mild Twixie is more fitting to Twilight's character. Like most of the girls, she's never shown any inclination towards romance. She's too focused in her studies, Fluttershy is likely frightened by the concept, Pinkie Pie created a clone army out of fear of not spreading her affection around enough, Rainbow's a career minded gal, and Applejack is busy on the farm. This way, I can have even more fun writing from Trixie's perspective and work in some character development for Twilight as she is barraged with the idea of romance.
1069454 I have to agree with you on that one. Between adorkable Twilight and outwardly confident but inwardly vulnerable Trixie, they can be quite the pair.
1069458 Sherlock Holmes always sounds good. A Sherlock Holmes stand-in with ridiculous magical ability fighting Nazicorns, I would like to think, could be epic.
1069219 Please is the magic word. By the way people are voting, it looks like it worked.
The casebook has my vote!
Twilight, Trixie and Nazi unicorns is a winning combination!

Alas, poor Babs. Twixie seems to win this round. It shall be awesome, but we shall miss thee, Best Filly.
1069960 What I'll probably end up doing is put out a chapter of Babs for every few chapters of the Casebook. This is probably a good thing, as I have a better idea of what do to and how to do it with The Casebook.

I'm going with the casebook. Would it be in the same universe? I feel like it'd be cool to see how Trixie ended up in such a bad situation.
1070843 Same universe, yes. It would actually be a direct sequel to Let's Get a Wiggle On. By the, "bad situation," are you referring to the Platinum Council wanting her special talent, or just having to sing and dance at a bar? I'm curious as to which people would be more interested to read.

Can i go with both? More the second one. I would rather see the direct sequel though, cause I liked the character dynamics.
