How I became a Brony · 7:08am Apr 22nd, 2013
Hey, everyone of my...*looks through* 7 followers and the few of you who actually decide that this is worthwile reading nonetheless.
So, how did I become a Brony? First of all, I had contact with the 'way old dark times' of this genre. Not because I liked it, mind you, my elder sister was a huge fan of the first season, complete with pony-toys and everything. She tried to get me to like it but watching one or two episodes and SEEING the toys, I quickly swore off. Since I was about 6 years old at the time and only 'liked' my sister because she owned a gameboy, you could say that this was a childish decision.
Now fast-forward to 2012. I noticed since the end of the last year a steady increase of little, colorful pony videos that I never watched. Not because someone told me that I shouldn't, I simply was apathetic to the whole topic. It changed somewhere in September, when Anonymious actually hacked some of 'our' Austrian Politic Parties Sites. This one party that I really disliked boasted after a few attacks that their homepage had been 'too well-protected' to be targeted and promptly were hacked after one more day. That day I noticed the newspaper article because Mr. Strache, the 'leader' of this political party, complained about a 'blue pokemon or whatever' blocking their site. Since I knew with just one look that it WASN'T a pokemon, I looked at it a bit closer to see if I could find out where the picture had come from.
Imagine my surprise when I found out it was Rainbow Dash? Now intrigued why an internationally working hacking team would use a 'little pony for girls, even if it looks cool' (<-- actual thoughts of myself at that time) for their attacks, I searched what was so special about these ponies. I found this grown man (he looks in his mid-thirties) explaining that he himself found the show amazing and that he couldn't understand why he had so much problems accepting that. (I'll link a video a bit later to it)
So I challenged myself. I was sure that My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic was bad BUT I would 'force' myself to watch the first season. So I sat down and watched the first season in two or three days. I was surprised how much I liked the show but stayed reluctant until the season finale. The freakout of Fluttershy finally converted me. I couldn't stop smiling the entire day afterwards and threw myself into the genre as much as I could. The only thing I hesitated about was actually creating content (I have a really low self-esteem and I still struggle with the...forwardness of other people in some situations). By the way, that's the reason I never finished the first chapter of my intended story but was able to write several chapters of The Equestrian Intelligence Agency for my friend Bramblestar4427.
You spelled Anonymous wrong.... but very intriguing. I love you. (No homo.) You should really work on getting a story out. I was reluctant to write on this site too, but I did, and it brought me far. Hay, I wouldn't of had met you if I hadn't started writing on here. Anyway, enough of my rambling.... I'll see you later
Wow, you have an interesting story of how you became a Brony. It's much more interesting than mine! Anyway, glad you're on the site and hope we can be friends.
Your origin story is better than mine.
