    To anyone who cares

I've returned. Nothing dramatic or anything, just been away on jobs and struggling to shoot depression in the dick. Fortunately I live in the mountains and desert now, thank god. Hell, I even have a house now with a very loyal friend. What does this mean? Well it means I'm gonna try and finish a story, see where it goes from there. No promises. Just trying my best to finish what I started now

    Small Request

I'm afraid my time here will soon be coming to an end as I'm up for another deployment. So here's a little request as I try to finish the story before then.

I'm a shit artist. But it would be really cool if those of you with such skill could try and put some of the stuff in my stories into picture.

Any scene, object or character, any at all.

    Away from civilization

It's great being back on leave, finally. But screw the fine city of San Diego, I'm backpacking the desert and forests. Catch me if you can.

Somehow still getting cell service out here. not another soul in sight.

Catch the sorry SOB who did this.

I just saw a video showing the explosion, it must be terrible for anybody out there right now :pinkiesad2:
:fluttercry:

1010727 I heard they are already arresting suspects

I was their when it happened was not fun

This is not to be disrespectful in any way, of course something like this is terrible, but maybe i need some perspective: an estimated 45 people are murdered every day in the US (and that's only the 1st degree's, if you include accidental deaths the number is in the thousands).

Why do these two get so much more attention than all the rest?

1010773
Because this was a planned terror attack. People are scared.

1010787
"planned" is probably a generous description, i could walk out into the street right now with a broken bottle and kill more people than that...

But i didn't mean the event in itself, obviously the bombing of a big event like the Boston Race is gonna draw attention. i was referring to the victims themselves. There are so many people extending "condolences", but most of them could probably turn on the local news and hear about someone who just died in a car accident, and that leaves them largely unfazed.

1010813

It's just that the event was so unexpected. People want to feel unified I some way.

1010773
It's how the media works, unfortunately.

Get them and beat the living shit out of of them

1010773
huh, first time i ever received downvotes... I'd like to empathize that i am not ridiculing nor disrespecting anyone, I'm just curious as to the social psychology surrounding an event like this, and as to why people are so distinctive in who they feel sympathy for.

If you turned the news on in a week and saw a headline stating that a plumber and a homeowner had died in an accident when they where standing next to an over pressurized water-heater, what would you think? Most people wouldn't even spare them a thought, maybe aside from "well, that's sad", or "why would they do that? fools".

But if the the explosion is an act of TERROR, suddenly everybody invests a lot more feeling into it.

1010813 I get what you are trying to say but it is how the whole event took place. In a car crash, it may be sad but it doesn't make people drive down that road in fear of dying in a crash, whereas with a terror attack like this, it is intended to make people question whether they are safe anywhere.

there are other things as well which people might be worried about like, will this happen again, and if so how many people will die that time

1010888
I completely understand that, and it is in all ways natural that people would be scared. I wouldn't like it if someone planted a bomb near where i live, regardless of if anyone was hurt in the explosion.

But the thing that intrigues me is that for a lot of people, the object of focus is not the event. they are not discussing how terrible it is that something like that could take place. like this post, it is about the victims, peoples empathy, and how horrible it is for them and their loved ones. And of course it is, no question about it. But why is that the thing people focus on?

1010870

Its because mass's of people were affected in a horrific way

As SUCH A BOMB GOING OFF IN A CROWDED AREA and another going off WHITEN 5 SECONDS FROM THE FIRST

it has Psychological terror on the people their, And the people that live in this contry

This is the first Major attack on U.S soil Since 9/11 not counting the Attacks on U.S embasays

1010787

Psychological warfare

New info: the detonations were 'high order' detonations, which are characterized by white smoke as the high velocity of the blast tends to almost instantly incinerate nearby material. 'Low order' detonations burn slower and there for give materials a longer time to burn resulting in black smoke. This evidence, coupled with the proximity and timing of the two separate blasts points to a coordinated attack.

This gets more attention in the media than car accident victims and murders because it was a deliberate action by individuals for the sole purpose of killing and maiming innocents in order to further unrealistic and selfish goals that have nothing to do with those that were targeted and subsequently injured.

Car accidents are just that: accidents. It's sad, but also something usually easily prevented. Murders are largely only dealing with one individual committing the crime who is soon arrested, convicted and sentenced for their crime. Unless they are insanely rich, unfortunately, but they'll eventually get theirs.

In a planned attack, we're not only dealing with the individuals who carried it out, but also those that planned it, funded it, facilitated it and orchestrated it. We're not dealing with just a few misguided individuals, but potentially an entire organization with the capability to carry out another such event if they so choose to.

1010925>>1010934

With all respect, you are not understanding what i am saying. I was not comparing a carcrash to an explosive device deliberately put and detonated in a public area. Only the focus on the deceased, as individuals.

Also, isn't it still early to assume it is a part of some greater organization or group? It sounds like a rather simple, and evidently somewhat ineffective, explosive. Anyone with internet access can learn how to make something like that. It is just as likely, if not more, that it is just some lone extremist or sociopath, like the batman shooter, or any of the other shooters really.

1010970 but you also need to remember that those shooters are using equipment which arguably would be easier to get a hold of than 4 explosive devices capable of that damage (I heard another 2 were found and defused but I can't remember where I heard it so unless I can find the source, just dismiss that)

1010922 I guess it would be kind of depressing if we stopped every 2 minutes to give our condolences to someone who died

1010996

I have a slight interesting in stuff like that, and have read a few books about IED's including the Anarchist's cookbook. I'm fairly sure i could produce enough explosive power to wipe out a crowd of people. it really doesn't take much skill, just a manual and some patience. you can buy most of the ingredients in you local hardware store, or at a chemistry shop.

Just horrible whenever this goes down, I don't have much to say about this, because i've already said most of what I can. But I hope that the families of the victims can gain some peace of mind soon.
As for those who innacted the injustice, I hope that they're found and put to justice, whether that be through the barrel of a gun, bare knuckles to the face, or the courts.

1010970

Give it a day. Plus, it takes a certain amount of planning, patience and backing to pull something like this off with drawing undue attention. Could not have been done by just one person. Also, it doesn't matter which organization did it, though I'm sure Al Qaeda will claim responsibility even if they weren't involved.

I hate to be that guy I really do, but what happened? I just got back home and haven't heard anything about what happened.

1011425 Wow, not much i can say even if i knew what to say.

This crap isn't terrorism or what ever bullshit you want to label it as. It was some sick fucks simply looking to harm innocent people for the point of it. Plain and simple. sticking a terrorism tag on it is just stupid... Stop trying to hide the fact that some humans (yes Americans too) are simply sick fucks that want to hurt people.

Humanity is the root of the problem, but it is one we must deal with. I feel very upset for those injured and those that lost love ones in this mindless bombing, but stop with the OMG it's terrorism nonsense.

1012352

Just got back and saw the new suspects. What a shame and from so far out of left field.I really hope the reason wasn't just 'for fun'.

1020596 Sadly sometimes it is... Humanity can be terrible at times.
