    Nothing to see here

    Peeks head out of rock...

Hi... It's been a little while.

    Checks...

... Okay, it's been a long while. Just shy of 5 years apparently.

I'm not going to try and explain away that absence, but the main reason that I stopped - probably - is that I lost interest in the main storyline of MLP.

    Limbo

So it occurs to me that I am pretty much dead on this site at the moment – this post aims to a) state why this is so, b) state why it’s probably going to continue, and c) why lists are bad for people.

Still Not Dead Yet (a.k.a: What Have I Been Doing)

So... as some people may have noticed, I'm in one of my infamous periods of doing sweet f.a at the moment, so that's a thing.

    100 Follower Special (AMA)

Welcome back to part two of the 100 follower AMA celebration… thing. For the purposes of this blog, the acronym: AMA, now stands for Answering My AMA.

Right… In the order of asking the questions… Let’s get going.

What is your favourite pony/pairing? (Karrakaz)

    100 Follower Special (AMA)

Little bit of explanation before I go any further into this... about half a year or so ago, when I was on about 93 watchers, I said to myself... Cynical, you pessimistic and sarcastic person, why not make a special post for reaching the big one-double-oh? To which I promptly shot my conscience in the face for using such a long-winded way to say 100.

Stories, Words, Thoughts and Things · 8:38pm Apr 1st, 2013

Here's a thought, things happen, we have thoughts, they are made into words, they go into the stories we make.
No I'm not quite sure where I was going with that, but it is a very linear and predictable pattern. Just like the linear and predictable pattern of most things, stories included. Therefore it's slightly daunting when you want to break out of that pattern which is omnipresent, and try and write something new, something different and something which stands out from the crowd enough for you to be noticed.

If you think about it like this, you are (presumably) one person who writes stories as and when you can find time to do so and with whatever thoughts are in your head at that time. Then you post the story with eager hopes that it will transcend the other 40,000 stories on the site to the feature box and from there success awaits.

Then you wait for a bit, it's submitted, you have a neat spot on the front page amongst other new stories, you add it to several groups, sharing your masterpiece. One or two people comment on the story applauding it, maybe you'll get a few favourites and upvotes. It might keep going on and on, some more people might read it, you might garner another favourite, another like, maybe one or two dislikes. Then it tails off.

Simply put, it's incredibly hard to stay motivated, to write more and more stories for a niche audience of people. Yet you keep writing another oneshot, an occasional multi-chapter epic novel here and there... and they all fall by the wayside, forgotten as the more notable authors seem to distract the readers with shiny things.

I'm really not sure what's more demoralising though, for a story to get absolutely shit-canned, or for a story to just... pass by unnoticed. At time of writing, I myself have 15 stories that I've submitted, most of them seem to be legible at the very least (Even if my earliest stories need a serious going over), and some of them have less than 100 views after being on the site for months.

And what am I doing? I keep putting out more and more stories that garner one or two favourites, one or two likes, and about a watcher-and-a-half on average. What did I say earlier? Laughably predictable.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Guess that makes me somewhat insane.

Funny thing that is, the original blog was going to say that I was entering the TwiDash fic competition Here.
It sort of... went off-topic slightly.
Guess I just needed to vent somewhat.

Also welcome to April everyone.

I try to make my words into thoughts, and, as a result, my writing is extremely unconventional.

I guess I'm okay with it, though.

I'll write, regardless if I get a following of any kind.

And for that you have my respect.
Doesn't mean that it doesn't feel nice when someone favourites your works and watches you (Even if that last one is somewhat creepy when you think about it).

I think I was the last person to follow you...YAY I'M SOMEWHAT CREEPY :pinkiecrazy::pinkiecrazy::pinkiecrazy:

In all seriousness though, don't give up on your writing! You are a good writer, and I honestly don't know why your stories don't have more views. I realize I'm a little late to the party here, but you shouldn't throw in the proverbial towel. I understand wanting a little recognition for your hard work, and even though you tell yourself that you're gonna keep on writing for the sake of writing, it doesn't mean that seeing a handful of notifications with people favouriting your story is any less awesome. It literally makes my day when I see that.

On the other hand I'm going for intimidation here. You better not give it in now when I was looking forward to competing against you in that competition! Put up your writing dukes boy and let's get down to some serious TwiDash.
