So... Doctor Who. · 10:05am Mar 2nd, 2013
You'll find this hard to believe, but I've never seen the show, besides a few parody clips of it and some textual info on the whole thing. After reading a few fics on the Doctor Who pony, however, I've started to grow more curious if the show is entertaining or not.
So tell me, my fellow followers. For a first time watcher of Doctor Who, which series should I watch first? The one from the 1960s-1980s, or the one from 2005-onward?
I recommend the old series, personally. It's always good to start with the classics.
And besides, Tom Baker. Gotta love him.
I'ven't seen the old show just the 2005 one. Yet Doctor Whooves cleary channel lot of Tennant.
i think you should start from the beginning. That's how i started three month ago
A bit of both! Old Who for the Brig, Sarah Jane, and Tom Baker, New Who for David Tennant, and the freaking Weeping Angels, and both for the Daleks. New Who, however, has German!Nazi!Daleks. i77.photobucket.com/albums/j75/Psychotronic42/DoctorWho/Comments/exterminate-1.jpg
I want to watch classic doctor who but netflix doesn't have all the episodes
Guess I'll be startin' at the 1960s then. Where else to start other than the beginning. Better to start there than in the middle of it.
It's fine if you want to start with the original show, but you really don't need to in order to watch the new series from the beginning. Here's a tip, though: you'll definitely want to watch the new series IN ORDER. Don't start with season 2 or 3. There is a lot of continuity within each season as well as between them, and you definitely don't want to miss anything.
2005-onward, but I still love the 1960-1980 ones. It's actually kinda funny to watch them. My favorite's number four, then number ten for the 2005-onward series.

I know it makes me so mad.
880843 Sometimes, yes. I tried to start there, but it was cornier than Nebraska, Hammier than a Thanksgiving dinner, and cheesier than a plate of chip-less nachos. The new seasons are the same, but the graphical effects are a lot.... cooler, I guess. But, that's just a personal opinion.
2005 onward, only because it's more likely to get you into the fandom, with the modern quality. I actually started with Matt Smith, because Moffat feels like a better writer.

2005 onward bro, trust me, youll be better off with just that. thats where i started and ve neever gone farther back than that.

If you want the 2005-Current series, and don't have Netflix, then use this link!
904096 i just dislike how a large number of fans hate matt smith because he's not tennant... they've got it in theirheads, after so long with the 'brilliant' tennant, that the only doc is ten...
2005-onwards is a safer place to start
Why not start with the 9th doctor, that's what I started with before I went to the first one to the seventh, haven't seen the 8th doctor yet.
