My Thoughts on Alicornication/New Story Idea · 6:19pm Feb 16th, 2013
This episode was great.
Not as great as some.
But still great.
It was rushed, of course, and the whole time you could see the writers going "Okay, we gotta make her an alicorn. Uhhh. SONGS! FRIENDSHIP! MAGIC! DONE!"
But the songs were super, which I loved, and there was a warm fuzzy feeling present through the whole ep. I would have LOVED to see this be a two-parter so we could go in-depth with the problems of the other ponies (the rest of the Apple family reacting to their new sister would've been a hoot), but it's already done. And we can't really see how this will affect the show until the next season. Ahh, well... time to get back to fanfics.
Speaking of which, this was running through my mind the ENTIRE EPISODE:

Twilight flies on a chariot to a strange new land...
VO: She was once one of them. A noble Princess.
Shadowy silhouettes of an alicorn looking down over a kingdom...
The mane six enter a dilapidated castle, covered in frescoes of prosperity and happy ponies...
VO: She ruled here in the name of Harmony. Ruled over ponydom.
Twilight lifts a strange book eerily similar to Starswirl's... the frescoes change to depict images of war and cruelty...
VO: But she would not welcome her new sisters. She exterminated them.
Images of the mane six coming upon an alicorn skeleton, and cringing before a massive door with the symbol of Magic upon it...
VO: And like them, she seeks to rule once more...
The Elements of Harmony are drawn to the door against their bearers' will. The symbol of Magic begins to glow as the door creaks open. As the music swells: Twilight standing in a room surrounded by books she is levitating, Applejack and Rarity charging a group of twisted pony-like creatures, Pinkie and Fluttershy fighting through flaming wreckage, Rainbow Dash facing a mighty storm all alone. The mane six facing a dragon, an angry mob, and standing atop a mountain.
Slow pan over the bodies of murdered alicorns towards the darkened silhouette of one standing over them all, her horn glowing and mane and tail aflame with power.
VO: You were not the only one to change your destiny. She was the first.
Her eyes flare and envelop the screen. Darkness.
VO: Alicorn.

It's a rip off. But I bet it could be an AWESOME rip off. Also, I can't believe they used the actual word in the episode.
Okay. That was awesome. Would make a great grim/dark ep. Also, Celly's singing voice is best singing voice. 's a DAMN beautiful soprano she's got.

It still made me lose it when they actually used it to describe Twilight. It sealed the deal that "alicorn" is now the official term for the race of the Princesses. Which I am okay with.
