Art Cover Stuff and Walking Down Memory Lane

So, hey everyone (or anyone who still follows me, lol)! Wow, FiMFiction has changed quite a bit since I last got on here... jeez, like, two year ago? Yeah, time certainly flies!

Anyways, I just thought I should make a blog post for the people who keep on messaging me about wanting an art cover for their writing pieces...

Back from the Dead (sorta) and Talking Bout Snowdrop/Double Rainboom... Among Other Things...

    I suppose I only came on here to get some insight from fellow followers from the fandom. No, it's not a personal problem, but actually about two projects that have come out in the last month;

-Double Rainboom, a 28 minute long fan-made episode which is supposed to mimic the quality of the series.

Equestria Girls, Fighting is Magic, and Hasbro ruining the Fandom... · 6:13am Feb 14th, 2013

Hey.

Hey you.

You remember that movie we were all expecting? The one for our favorite show? That one?

Lookie what I found, that gives us a screenshot of what it might be...

YEP! IT'S EXACTLY WHAT YOU THINK IT IS! OH DEAR GOD THE (snrk) HUMANITY!

Ugh...

Hasbro...

Why are you destroying the fandom, bit by bit, piece by lovable piece?

Basically, if you haven't heard about this yet, there has been MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR upsets within the community.

One, Alicorn Twilight. Not gonna say much since I already did, but EVERYONE, I think, knows this could have been SERIOUSLY avoided and honestly never brought up. Apparently, there have been a lot of funny gifs about the writer of the episode, sarcastically thanking him for A.T.

Two, Fighting is Magic. If you don't know, Fighting is Magic was a fighting game similar to Tekken or Mortal Kombat, but obviously, with ponies. Recently they have been issued a Cease and Desist from Hasbro and have been forced to shut down all their progress (which has been A LOT, let me tell you). Although a non-profit game, the youtube videos they had posted gained them money, granting Hasbro the right to C&D the game. Honestly, that was pretty damn stupid idea of them in my opinion, since it was one of the larger projects going on.

Three, Friendship is Witchcraft and The Mentally Advanced series on YouTube. Both have been, also, shut down by Hasbro in a series of Hasbro shutting down videos all over youtube. The Friendship is Witchcraft creator is currently trying to regain his videos while FimFlamFilosophy will not be trying. Both were substantial and long series, but Hasbro now has eliminated them from us.

Four, fandom music. Yes, even our music is under fire now and may or may not be affected in the future. Due to legal babble that would be too long to write out, Hasbro may or may not, if they decide to, start pulling music and music videos off of YouTube as well. Apparently, covers of songs are copyright infringed so those may be taken out. On this matter, don't take my exact words for it, but it IS something along these lines and the music of Bronies ARE in danger now.

Five, any other fanlabor. Possibly now, if anything takes place in Ponyville, Equestria, or includes the main characters in any such way, Hasbro may or may not have the ability to shut them down as well, similar to Fighting is Magic. So that means (possibly), we could be seeing the end of:

-PonyKart
-Fallout: Equestria Mod
-Equestria Tales (RPG)
-Children of the Night music video
-Legends of Equestria
-Pony Space (Dead Space)
-Double Rainboom MLP episode
-.MOV series

and so on and so forth.

ANYWAYS, this is based on what I have seen and heard floating about multiple Pony blogs and The Round Stable pony news article site. I will say, don't freak out, but Hasbro climbing in our internetz and snatchin our fandom up! (Oh dear celestia I'm sorry for that... XD)

If you have any more info, please tell me so~ :)

you get wat I mean don't you? :pinkiecrazy:

826124

... You have no idea how much symbolism this actually contains for the Bronies and Hasbro... :yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

826157 are you implying that I'm making fun of this situation?!

826193

Idk... There's cheese after all~ :pinkiecrazy:

when it comes to Fightning is Magic same as Legends of Equestria, I'm pretty sure the copyright issue was from a third party and not Hasbro, but once it's brought up they either need to fight it, or lose the license. I hadn't heard about FiW though I'd actually think that it being a fan work and (this part makes me gag) much like rappers the episodes aren't fully used but "sampled" would make the copyright claim null.

Okay, I try not to say much, but this is getting ridiculous.

About the film concept:

- It has already already shown with the Alicorn Twilight thing that some of us slip into anarchy with the slightest bit of suggestion at anything slightly weird/misunderstood about an upcoming episode.
- The original image that I saw of it had a caption which explained that the frame was "leaked over the weekend" by "an anonymous source working for Hasbro". Let's go into this, shall we?
1) "Leaked over the weekend"; It is now Wednesday, Feb. 14, and there is (to my knowledge) still no information about this on EqD, which is odd because I'm pretty sure Sethisto set it up so that any Hasbro employee/brony could send the latest spoilers and developments of MLP content directly to his inbox. We would have heard about this within the first six hours, at least.
2) "an anonymous source"; Hmmm...how many people in the FiM production crew have Twitter handles? And how many "information age-y" bronies follow said handles? And how many major crew members are signing up for Twitter every day? A lot, I actually have lost count. And yet how many people who spread this image around have actually gone onto Twitter and asked them? Yeah. Exactly. Oh wait, this is from an "insider" on Reddit, and as you know, not just anyone can make a Reddit account with no profile image within say, an hour of posting this and claim to work for the FiM crew. I mean, you have to enter your desired password twice! I assume this is the same "inside source" that convinced everyone that they were gonna bring back Megan in season 4, and included a "possible image" that was drawn by some vector artist on dA.
3) Are we all ignoring the fact that their "skin" appears to be tinted? And that they are standing in fashion model poses in a room filled with equestrian-related trophies and wall hangings? Doesn't that seem like, oh, maybe a couple thousand of the humanized fanart images on dA/Derpibooru? Not to mention that the human design closely resembles the one used on Littlest Pet Shop, and as we know, the fandoms for those two shows to not intersect at all. [/sarcasm]

Also:
- As far as I know, the full-length Equestria Girls video is still available for streaming in standard definition on the Hub's MLP site in the videos section.
- FiW/Sherclop is in the process of moving to Vimeo or getting the DMCA reversed.

CALM DOWN. THE FANDOM IS NOT ENDING, YOU ARE NOT BEING TARGETED, EVERYTHING IS FINE. Jeez. :facehoof: [/rant]

This... was unexpected, especially since I have said, in the blog, that this is all of what I have heard around the internet and from some resources. I'm just reciting what I have heard and taken with the possibility of it being "true", I'm just saying what i think and feel on the matter. I'm not in a "panic" state at all really and I'm not expecting the fandom to really end over this ordeal, whether if its true or false. I'm not like that, jeez!

Personally though, I DO feel like Hasbro (although its completely in their rights to do so) is targeting our fanlabor projects now and they are at risk either way. Will they step in in a giant sweep and cease them all? Who knows. Their choice.

The A.T thing, yeah, I know. The image of the whole Equestria Girls thing is something I happened to find and only research a little bit, as I had said in the blog.

I gave nothing a "pure" chance of happening. This might happen, or this could happen.

And the Equestria Girls video? Of course its up. I don't even see where I mentioned it in the blog, so I'm kinda confused why thats in your post... But from what I have gathered, it was made by the Hub and specifically given to EqD specifically for the internet. Once again, from what I gathered. There was a site called equestriagirls.com, but after a legal claim with Hasbro, it was shut down. The reason being for having the YouTube video embedded into the site (which, according to some legal nonsense, is actually a debated topic, with embedded videos being copyright infringement and all that~).

The skins, apparently btw, were supposed to be representative of the Mane 6 coat colors, but changed slightly to represent more skin tones. That's the reasoning for that that others have gathered anyways.

The whole thing about the weekend part, and it being the middle of it... Well, yes, Hasbro should have gotten back to us by now. That's understandable. However, if memory serves correctly, during the whole Derpy episode issue, it took them a long time to get back to us on that, longer than it should have, and it caused some big repercussions.

And "anonymous resource"? That's new... I heard that some tumblr guy (who does some fake Hate Pony blog or whatever) was given the picture as a teaser to the rest of the community. Of course, this is, once again, what I have heard and seen from other articles and blogs thus far.

So basically, what I'm saying is...

I AM CALM. THE FANDOM ISN'T ENDING ANYTIME SOON, HASBRO IS ONLY ACTING ON THEIR LEGAL RIGHTS, AND I AM PERFECTLY FINE.

826342

And now you :yay: Yes, the whole parody debate has gone up for discussion and from what I gather from bjwwilcera, I would say take his word on whats happening with that. The third party idea could be true, but I do believe it was truly Hasbro's legal department that issued the order. Once again, believe. I haven't researched all of this enough to give DEFINITIVE answers... sorry~ :unsuresweetie:

829304 I'd just like to see some of the panic die down. some of the awesome stuff that's gone down is still getting support from Lauren Faust of all people, y'know the mother of bronies?

829369

Yeah, I know, AND she was disappointed by the fall of Fighting is Magic too... The fandom is always, however, going to be jumpy as hell, since, unlike most others fandoms, we were able to REALLY push the boundaries of what we could do with MLP. Its like an unruly shrub; we have some branches that grew too long and I guess Hadbro, the gardener, decided to trim some of those branches. We all should have expected this but yeah, the panicking of everyone is getting kinda ridiculous now... :ajbemused:

830751 I saw that she had offered to "help" and by that I mean she was offering those guys a job at making a legit title (how cool is that?) And yeah, I can admit to a lot of twitchieness in our fandom, sometimes it isn't easy being a brony.:duck:

829304 Yeah, sorry bout that. I just see all these posts every day about the "fandom ending" or indulging in some weird rumor.
thank you for humoring my insane ranting.

830818

Lol its only easy being a Brony with others Bronies lololol :yay: and a job offer? Thats pretty awesome really! :raritystarry:

831424

Ur welcome~ :ajsmug:

832140 yeah, check it out her Twitter posts to them is one of the many reasons I think she's an awesome woman.
