Hey ponies, I'm issuing a writing challenge for you all. Everyone can participate! In fact, I encourage it. If you want to take part, send me a message and I'll give you a pair of characters to ship. In fact, to make it interesting, for everypony that participates, I'll do one of two things. I'll either use the same pair I give you and write my own, or you can suggest a pair. Think 'Short Story'. It doesn't need to be lengthy, or with some crazy long story arc. It can be just a scene, a conversation, a bit of clop, etc. A glimpse into the two character's lives at any point of their relationship. Meeting, Dating, Sex, Lovers-spat, Marriage, Kids, etc. Pick a point in time and run with it.
Rules:
1) You have until Jan 31st to finish, publish, and link your story. I'll stop accepting participates on Jan 15th.
2) When you finish the story, publish it with the following name "New Years Shipping Challenge: (Character names)" and message me with the link. I'll compile them all into a final blog post.
3) At least 3k words. Short but sweet. It can be as long as you want, but the idea is to give readers just a taste.
4) Any current Foal characters (CMC, Pip, etc) MUST be written as if they were 'of age'. Late teens or older. Sorry, no Foal-fooling.
5) Anything goes for the scene. Tame, saucy, clop, hardcore, or even just comedy. Just try to stay in-character as much as possible.
6) NO inanimate objects. I don't want to get requests for "Dash and the kitchen sink" cause I'm not going to do it and I wont issue you such challenges.
7) Every character in the show is fair game. Backgrounds, mane 6, even buffaloes and fanon characters. But no OCs.
8) Have fun! I look forward to the madness of strange pairings. Who knows, your short story may bloom into a full on epic shipping story.

Alright. You can knock it out in an afternoon. Just keep it light. Not to say you shouldn't put thought into it. Flesh it out and mold it, but don't worry about trying to force it to be long. If it ends up being that way, awesome.
The idea is to see what you ponies can come up with. Get your writing skills a little new years practice or perhaps an entry for the newer writers to try their hooves at this genre.
I admit, I am tempted. . . But I have been so far out of my writing groove of late, I don't know if I would ever get around to it.

I have been putting my on writings off long enough, Toss me a pairing luna man! and i shall do my upmost.
Give me a pairing and I'll do my best. I've tried to write some things, but due to my lack of confidence in my writing abilities I always end up stopping because I feel like it isn't turning out like it should be. I'm hoping this will get me started, or at least get me to write something so someone can tell me how to improve.
Dash and the kitchen sink. I have read and seen Cupcakes. I have read and seen Rainbow factory. I have read Rocket to Insanity. I have read many gory fics but that one ungory strange fic gave me nightmares and NO story animation or video game has ever given me nightmares before.
I have been lacking in the inspiration department lately... maybe this could shake me out of it?
I suppose I'll join. If you're willing to send me a ship that is. I can guarantee you'll get something back, but I cannot guarantee it'll be as good as it could be.
So far, we got 10 challenges accepted. Here's hoping everyone finishes. There's some really interesting combos out there. I can't wait to see how you ponies ship em.

Could totally play on the whole 'Luna was banished and felt lonely and Chrysalis is a rejected changeling so they can empathize with each other and that's how it starts' thing. Also I would throw some Celestia in there, at first have her oppose the whole thing but eventually come to accept it. (But I think she would always be a bit more troll-y to Chrysalis.
My suggestion, I couldn't write a decent ship even if the reward was tickets to Equestria.
I know I'm a little late, but I have writers block. Juggling two accounts AND helping a third will KILL YOUR BRAIN!
