    Let's Talk

Yes, I know, I'm spamming these blogs recently. Apologies for that, to anyone who might be inconvenienced; I just keep having things to say, I suppose, and this is one of barely any ways I have to comfortably engage with the community here.

    Hating on Bronies, Part 2

Just gonna leave this here for a while. Found in the wild under a YouTube video going over the bad side of our fandom made by a non-brony creator. The comments were filled with stuff like this:

    Asking for Advice

I'm going to start this blog with a little confession... I think I've already mentioned it, but my passion for MLP seems to be taking a bit of a backseat for the time being. Now, that doesn't mean I'm going anywhere or that I won't ever write fanfiction again; no, this happens to me from time to time and the situation is almost certain to come back to normal in due time. However, one fact remains

However, one fact remains - despite bursts of creative energy, I haven't really been able to start working on the next chapter of Deos ex Caellis yet, and that means that I have nothing to give to my co-author, which in turn means that the wait for the next chapter is going to be a bit longer. I could just force myself to write a bit, but... honestly, I simply don't want to. I don't do this for a living, it's a hobby. I want to enjoy writing, and besides, I want what I do write to be as good as possible, and not some forced ChatGPT-like text that's a total slog to read. I'm already not the best writer ever, to put it lightly, so I want to put as much of the little skill I do have as possible to use.

...however, as I briefly mentioned, I did experience some bursts of creative energy in the meantime, and something did in fact come of it. As some of you you might know, I try to continually update and build up the lore of my previous big story here, Of Starships and Golden Armors, on the lore group I set up. And I recently wrote an article to be posted there, but I'm hesitating whether to do it or not... and that's where I need your help and advice.

The lore article touches upon real-life political ideologies. It uses them to describe the sociopolitical landscape of humanity in a certain period of the universe's lore. That being said, my actual, real life political beliefs have no bearing on what I wrote there, and as such the article isn't meant to be any sort of agitation in any way; I've mentioned multiple times by now that I don't want to alienate anyone on this profile, and that, frankly, I'm also too chicken to risk stirring up some sort of internet unrest by provoking the kinds of emotions politics tend to provoke among people. I want this site to be a positive experience for both me and all of you.

And that is why I'm not sure whether I should post that article. The lore group in question is small, it has just 10 members (technically 11, but one of them is me), so the probability of someone starting an argument over it is small. It's also probably worth noting that I tried to use said political ideologies mostly as description tools, rather than something to be in any way judged - however, there are probably still people who might get angry at something, as seems to be case literally all the time when it comes to political discourse.

So... what do you think? Should I post it? Or maybe it'd be best to release the article, and simply be prepared to delete it if a 'riot' starts in the comments? Let me know what you think.

To start I say post it. The lore is about the past and what happened to make things the way they are in the story. If someone can't understand that it's a record of the past and shows what bad and good things where done doesn't mean the author believes in such it is something that you can say after looking at the history books who can judge. Just look at are IRL history.

Alright, thanks for that!
I'm gonna post it, but I think I'll keep the possibility of deleting it later at the back of my head if someone does barge in and start rioting. It's honestly very unlikely, but there is always some possibility, haha.

Your welcome and I understand if you have to remove it later. Some people just can't see what is written in a story is not the same thing as what an author believes.

One of the purposes of being a writer is to explore how others think. One of the joys, to be honest.

Also, the antagonist and protagonist almost always have different value systems and mindsets. As long as you clearly mark the piece as the product of an ideology or specific character, only the most reactionary of immature readers would imagine the article reflects your personal mindset.

That's true; I did end up posting it, and it went okay, so you were right in the end, haha.

I suppose I'm just kind of a coward in that regard - I have some mental scars from personally arguing about politics on the internet in the past, and as a result, nowadays I'm afraid to touch any such topic at all, even it has nothing to do with my personal views. And, well... I do very much want everyone to feel as comfortable while visiting my profile as they can.

Still, you're right - we as writers should strive to explore and challenge common ways of thinking. So... in the end, I'd say I'm glad I posted it. :twilightsheepish:
